Savages (2012)
Crime | Thriller
Seldom may you see a movie with equal gore and glamour. Savages is one
of them. At one scene it’s colorful, hot and sexy with steaming good looking
people and rich places. On the next it’s blood, body parts and all the gore
with chainsaws and petrol soaked torture. Some or maybe most of the scenes in
it is quite hard to watch. Even sex is brutal come to think of it. But what’s
good about it is that the plot grips well. It doesn't slip nor drag but gives a
continuous thrill ride. And it brings in well known actors and faces to the
screen time to time and some live short than the rest but unfortunately only
few get out alive at the end. You know where all the crime movies head. It’s
just a matter of who dies first and who’s last.
There are little twists in the plot and for some it could be complicated
for a while. But once the base is set and the story starts to fall straight one
can enjoy the blood ride which is quite slippery. And this is one of those
movies where the supporting role such as Benicio Del Toro and Salma Hayek looks
staggeringly well in their performance than the main leads. And talented John
Travolta kicks in some juice where it matters. My advice is that get ready for
a bumpy ride and brain spatter. If you can digest them you will like the unique inbuilt alternative ending.
