Life of Pi (2012)

No doubt this is one of the greatest spectacles of year 2012 and surely in the history of cinema. A very unique story comes to light with breathtaking beauty that a person has watched once will not forget for a life time. Apart from being a touching story that involves a young Indian boy and a Bengal Tiger stranded in the middle of the sea together after a shipwreck, the emotional value and the deep thoughtfulness comes with it is the key to the success of this. Having a brilliant flow from the point of starting titles and solidly building the base for a large story Life of Pi doesn't make any visible mistakes. Some scenes are magically beautiful with sound visual effects in the making that makes this one of the most beautiful movies ever seeing. This is well acted and wonderfully scored proving that still movies that has life and heart comes to light even once in a while.

 

වසර 2012 සහ සමස්ත සිනමා ඉතිහාසයම තුල මෙතෙක් නොදුටු තරම් අපුර්වතම දර්ශනයන් රැගත් සිනමා කෘතියක් ලෙස මෙය එක හෙලා හැඳින්විය හැකි වෙයි. වරක් දුටුවෙක් ජීවිත කාලයක් පුරා මතකයේ තබාගන්නට තරම් ඉස්තරම් කතාවක් සහ මනරම් බවක් මෙහි තිබෙයි. නැවු අනතුරකින් පසුව මුහුදේ එකට අසරණ වන තරුණ ඉන්දියානු කොලු ගැටයෙක් සහ බෙන්ගාල කොටියෙක් වටා ගෙතුණු අද්විතීය කතාන්තරය හැරුණු කොට මෙහි ඇති හැඟීම් බර බව සහ ගැඹුරින් කල්පනා කල හැකි අනෙක් සියලු දේ වෙතින් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තව තවත් විශේෂ එකක් වන්නේය. මුල සිටම ස්ථාවරව ගොඩ නැගෙන කුඩා කතාව තුලින් තවත් විශාල වන ප්‍රධාන කතාවට මැනවින් පිවිසෙන අතර මෙහි බැලු බැල්මට පෙනෙන තරම් වූ කිසිදු අඩු පාඩුවක් නොවයි. සමහරක් දර්ශන වල ඇති මනස්කාන්ත බව සහ පසුබිම් සංගීතය මුසු කොට ගත් කල මෙතෙක් දුටු සුන්දරම සිනමා අත්දැකීමක් බවට එය පෙරලෙයි. සුන්දර රංගනයන් සහ සංගීතයෙන් හෙබි මෙවැනි චිත්‍රපටි තුලින් තවමත් ජීවිතයට සහ හදවතට සමීප චිත්‍රපටි කරලියට පැමිණෙන බවට සනාත කෙරෙයි.

Wreck-It Ralph (2012)

From what I saw 2012 was not a great year for animation movies. There has being quite a few good ones but most of them had this ‘being there done that’ feeling. But finally this one does the magic. By far this is one of the most creative ideas coming to life in an animation and could be the best of that sort in 2012. Maybe I feel that way because I have being a fan of computer games from its early stage and some of the characters and games in this are awaking memories. And for a fact the set of characters in this is truly creative and wonderfully crafted using computer magic. When it comes to the story it is a total satisfying one as well. It doesn't drag or become predictable. And right from the start is amusing to see how it rolls out. A very good job done by Disney crew that will be remembered for a long time, just like we remembered Toy Story.

 

මගේ හැඟීමට අනුව 2012 වසර පරිගණක සජීවිකරණ චිත්‍රපටි වලට ඉතාමත්ම හොඳ වරක් නොවෙයි. බොහෝ චිත්‍රපටි කරලියට පැමිණියත් ඒවායේ යම් කිසි මින් පෙර දුටු හුරු බවක් තිබීම නිසාම ඒවා එතරම්ම ඉස්තරම් ගණයට අයත් නොවුනි. නමුත් අවසානයේදී මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඒ සියල්ල අභිබවා විජාවක් මෙන්විමට සමත්ව තිබේ. මෙතෙක් කල් බිහි වුනු පරිගණක සජීවිකරණ චිත්‍රපටි අතුරින් මෙය ඉතා අසමසම කතාවකින් හෙබි වන අතර 2012 වසරේ තිර ගත වුනු වඩාත්ම හොඳ සජීවිකරණ චිත්‍රපටිය විය හැකිය. සමහරක් විට මා හට එසේ සිතෙන්නේ කුඩා කල සිටම පරිගණක ක්‍රීඩා වලට තිබුණු ඇල්ම නිසා විය හැකි අතර මෙහි එන චරිත සහ කතාව බොහෝ මතකයන් පුබුදුවන එකක් වෙයි. එම චරිත ඉතා නිර්මානශිලිව පරිගණක භාවිතයෙන් නිමවා ඇති අයුරූ ඇත්තෙන්ම සුන්දරය. එමන්ම මෙහි එන කතාවත් තෘප්තිමත් එකක්. එය කිසි සෙත් කම්මැලි හෝ දිවැසින් කිව හැක්කක් නොවී ස්ථාවරව ගලා යන්නේ ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා පුදුමයට පත් කරමින්. මින් පෙර තිර ගත වුනු Toy Story වැනි චිත්‍රපටි මෙන් මේ චිත්‍රපටියද නැවුම් අත්දැකීමක් වන අතර බොහෝ කලක් මතකයේ රැඳෙන්නක් වනු ඇත. ඩිස්නි සමාගමේ නිරමානශීලි සමුහයේ හොඳ නිෂ්පාදනයක්.

War Witch (2012) (Canada/French)

One thing is certain that Africa has immensely fueled the movie industry with ample amount of stories of blood. Brutality and the crimes against humanity in the African region is not an alien subject for movies at all. Yet no matter how many we must have seeing before there is always something new to present. And this one speaks of war, crimes and life through the eyes of a 12 year of girl who is a child soldier and a victim of war. Some of the events that take place in this are humanly impossible to bear up. But knowing that there is room for such catastrophes to takes place in real situations like this is shocking.

 

War Witch is a strikingly powerful drama that speaks of an ugly side of the world and people. It is well directed, well performed (By many unknown faces) and well presented. There is a solid plot that maybe possible of giving you unforgettable nightmares. This is not a horror story but the lives lived through hell on earth indeed looks like one.

 

අප්‍රිකාව යනු රුධිරයෙන් නැහැවුණු කතා ගොඩක් සිනමාවට ගෙන ඒමට තෝතැන්නක් වුනු දේශයක් ලෙස එක හෙලා කිව හැකි වෙයි. අප්‍රිකාව තුල ඇති වුනු කෘරත්වය සහ මනුෂ්‍යා වර්ගයා හට කෙරුණු මහා අපරාධ සිනමාවට අමුතු දෙයක් නොවෙයි. ඒ කෙසේ වෙතත් අප කෙතරම් මෙවැනි දේ දැක තිබුනද විටින් විට තවත් නැවුම් මුහුණුවරක් ගත් චිත්‍රපටි එලි දකියි. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය වයස අවුරුදු 12 දී ළමා සෙබළියක් මෙන්ම යුද්ධයේ ගොදුරක් බවට පත් වුනු දැරියකකේ ඇසින් ජීවිතය දකින්නට දරන එවැනි නැවුම් උත්සාහයකි. මෙහි සමහරක් සිදුවීම් මානුෂික අයුරකින් විග්‍රහ කිරීමට නොහැකි තරම් කෘර ඒවා වෙයි. මෙය චිත්‍රපටියක් පමණක් වුවත් වෙවැනි දේවල් සැබෑ ලොව තුල සිදු වීමට තරම් ඉඩ කඩ ඇති බව තේරුම්ගැනීම අතිශයින්ම ශෝචනීය කරුණකි.

 

War Witch යනු මිනිසාගේ විරූපී පැති කඩක් ගැන කතා කරත කලාත්මක හුරුවක් සහිත ප්‍රබල චිත්‍රපටියකි. එය හොඳින් අධ්‍යක්ෂණය කර ඇති අතර හොඳ රන්ගනයන්ගෙන්ද (සියල්ල පාහේ අලුත් මුහුණු) සමන්විතයි. කතාවේ ඇති කෘරත්වය නිසාම සමහර විටෙක නපුරු හීන ජනිත කරවන්නටත් එයට හැකි. මෙය බිහත්සය දනවන චිත්‍රපටියක් නොවුනද සමහරුන්ගේ ජීවිත මෙලොව අපායක ගෙවෙන බව හඟවන එකක්.

Skyfall (2012)

50 years in the making and no doubt Bond still is one of the best ass kickers in the movies.  And Skyfall proves it yet again. There is everything you can expect from a Bond movie here including fast cars, hot women, witty lines, cool gadgets and thumping load of action. But none of these are similar to what you have witnessed in the Bond movies in recent past. Surely there are differences. The plot has a broad emotional value than most Bond movies forgot. The woman are hot but there is no steaming sex. The cars are fast but they are not always modern super cars. The gadgets are cool but some of the best ones are MacGyver  type ‘make it your own’ kind of ones.  The action is also great but they are divided by solid pieces of story lines than piling them up on top of each other. All this makes a different Bond movie but a genuinely fine one. 

If you were expecting a nonstop action movie with hot pursuits and crashing of million dollar worth machines then you might feel a bit disappointed. But best of action movies are not only about bending iron or exploding everything that the hero touches. So bear with it if you think it’s too slow because good things always comes for the ones who wait.

ජේම්ස් බොන්ඩ් නාමය අද්විතීය ක්‍රියාදාම සිනමා කෘති විශාල ගණනක් සහ වසර 50 ක කාලයකට පසු අදත් එක සේ ප්‍රකට සිනමා චරිතයකි. නවතම Skyfall චිත්‍රපටිය ඒ බව මොනවට තහවුරු කරයි. බොන්ඩ් චිත්‍රපටියකින් ඔබ අපේක්ෂා කරන සියලුම දේවල් වන වේගයෙන් ධාවනය වන මෝටර් රථ, සරාගී ගැහැනුන් , හාස්‍යමය දෙබස්, නුතන උපාංග සහ පොලොව දෙදරා යන තරම් උද්වේගකර ක්‍රියාදාම මේ චිත්‍රපටියේද මැනැවින් අඩංගු වෙයි. ඒවා මින් පෙර දුටු බොන්ඩ් චිත්‍රපටි වලට බොහෝ සමානකම් දක්වන ඒවා වුවත් සැලකුය යුතු තරමේ විශේෂ වෙනස් කම් කිහිපයක්ද වෙයි. කතාව තරමක් පුළුල් මානුෂික හැඟීම් දනවන එකක් වන නිසාම එය සැබෑ වෙනසකි. එසේම ගැහැනුන් සරාගී වුවත් එතරම් බරපතල අනග රැඟුම් මෙහි නැත. මෝටර් රථ වේගවත් වුවත් ඒවා සැම විටකම අලුත් මාදිලියේ ඒවා නොවෙයි. උපාංගද බොහෝ තිබුනත් වඩාත්ම වැදගත් ඒවා තමන් විසින්ම සාදා ගත හැකි MacGyver  මාදිලියේ ඒවා බව පෙනෙයි. ක්‍රියාදාම ඉස්තරම් ගනයේ ඒවා වුවත් ඒවා එක පිට එක ගොඩ නොගසා එක් එක් ක්‍රියාදාම ඛණ්ඩයක් අතර සැලකිය යුතු තරම් දිගු අරුත් සහිත කතාව ඇතුලත් වෙයි. මේ සියල්ල තරමක් වෙනස් බොන්ඩ් චිත්‍රපටියක ලක්ෂණ වුවත් එය ඇත්තෙන්ම චිත්‍රපටියට හානියක් නොවෙයි.

ඔබ බලාපොරොත්තු වන්නේ මිලියන ගණනක් වටිනා යකඩ ගොඩවල් විනාශ වන එක පිට එක ක්‍රියාදාම සහිත චිත්‍රපටියක් නම් සමහර විට ඔබට යම් කම්මැලි කමක් දැනෙනු ඇති. නමුත් හොඳම ක්‍රියාදාම චිත්‍රපටි සැම විටම වඩාත්ම යකඩ නවන හෝ වීරයා අල්ලන අල්ලන තැන බෝම්බ පුපුරන ඒවා නොවේ. එනිසා ඉවසීමෙන් යුතුව මේ සුන්දර බොන්ඩ් චිත්රපටිය නරඹන ඔබට හොඳම දෙය දක්නට ලැබෙනු ඇත.

The Master (2012)

Here comes another powerful movie from the creator of Punch Drunk Love (2002) and Magnolia (1999), Paul Thomas Anderson. And it is nothing but brilliant. And it’s brilliant not only in the story telling but in many aspects that a movie should be. And no doubt it has two of best of the best performances by male actors in 2012 (or ever) delivered by Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Those two portray two roles which are like two sides of the same coin in its deep nature so powerfully.  When you really concentrate on the amount detail that goes in to every second of their acting it is completely overwhelming.

Coming to the plot which is the other major contributor to the strength of The Master it sure is not shallow. Maybe it goes deeper as much as you want it to be. If you want to limit yourself thinking it’s drama about an unsettled sailor who lost his way and a founder of a cult who has very different lives for each other then let it be. But if you realize the underlying similarities of the two characters and the gruesome truths hidden in plain sight then you might describe The Master as a masterpiece.

මේ Punch Drunk Love (2002) සහ Magnolia (1999) වැනි විශිෂ්ට චිත්‍රපටි අප වෙත තිලින කල පෝල් තෝමස් ඇන්ඩර්සන් ගේ නවතම සිනමා කෘතිය මෙය වන අතර වචනයේ පරිසමාප්ත අර්ථයෙන්ම එය අති විශිෂ්ට එකක් වෙයි. එහි විශිෂ්ටත්වය පවතින්නේ කතාවේ පමණක්ම නොවන අතර සිනමා කෘතියක මුලිකව තිබිය යුතු ගුණාංග බොහොමයක් තුලයි. එසේම සැක සහිතව කිව යුතු කරුණක් නම් 2012 වසරේ (හෝ සිනමා ඉතිහාසයේ) දක්නට ලැබුණු හොඳම රංගනයන් දෙකක් ජෝකුවීන් ෆීනික්ස් සහ ෆිලිප් සය්මෝර් හොෆ්මන් විසින් මේ චිත්‍රපටියෙහි රඟපානු ලබන බවයි.

කතාව දෙස අවධානය යොමු කිරීමේදී එය The Master චිත්‍රපටියේ තවත් සවිමත් අංගයකි. එසේම එය කිසි සේත්ම නොගැඹුරු එකක් නොවෙයි. සමහරක් විට එය ඔබ සිතන තරමේ ප්‍රමාණයට ගැඹුරින් වැඩි විය හැකිය. ඔබේ සීමාව වන්නේ මානසිකව යම් කිසි ගට්ටනයකට ලක් වුනු නාවික සොල්දාදුවෙක් සහ තමන් විසින් සොයා ගත් ඇදහිලි කල්ලියක නායකයකු වටා ගෙතුණු එකිනෙකට බොහෝ වෙනස් වුනු චරිත දෙකක් සහිත කතාවක් නම් එය එසේ වන්නේය. නමුත් ඔබ දකින්නේ මේ චිරිත දෙක බෙහෙවින් සමානකම් ඇති එකම කාසියක දෙපැත්තක් ලෙසනම් එය එසේද විය හැකිය අතර එවිට ඔබට මේ කතාවේ ඇති තරමක් බිහිසුණු සත්‍යයන් වැටහෙනු ඇත. එසේ වූ කල් හි ඔබ මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඇත්තෙන්ම අග්‍රගන්යය එකක් ලෙස හඳුන්වනු ඇති.

The Impossible (2012)

Movies based on true events related to nature’s catastrophes are often very powerful and touching. And they are equally challenging to make. The Impossible (2012) is the second best of such movies I have witnessed that bows only to one of such kind which is Aftershock (2010/Chinese). But this movie has deep relativity to us as people who are living in a nation which got a severe beating by the 2004 Tsunami. Some of the scenes in this are so powerful and emotional that no beating heart can escape its

Influence and no blinking eye can escape a tear.

 

This could be the best ever re creation of a tsunami event on screen that is simply way beyond what the viewer might expect to see. It is breathtakingly heavy in its emotional values and stunningly mind blowing in production quality. And the wonderful performance by the main lead and the child actors are worthy of the time you spend on it.

 

සත්‍යය ස්වභාවික විපත් හා බැඳුනු  කතා රැගත් චිත්‍රපටි බොහොමයක්ම වෙලාවට ප්‍රබල සහ හිතට දැනෙන ඒවා වෙයි. The Impossible (2012) එවැනි චිත්‍රපටියක් වන අතර මාගේ දැනීම පරිදි එය දෙවැනි වන්නේ චීන චිත්‍රපටියක් වන Aftershock (2010) ට පමණයි. නමුත් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය 2004 වසරේ ඇතිවුණු සුනාමි ව්‍යසනයෙන් හොඳින් බැටකෑ අප වැනි රටක වෙසෙන අයට බොහොමත්ම සමීපයි. මෙහි සමහරක් ජවනිකා කෙතරම්ම සංවේදී ඒවාද යත් කිසිදු ගැහෙන හදවතකට ඒවායේ ඇති ඛේදනීය බවින් මිදීමට හෝ කිසිදු ඇසි පිය හෙලන ඇසකට කඳුළකින් මිදීමට නොහැකි වනු ඇත.

 

සිනමා තිරය මත සුනාමි අවස්තාවක් නැවත ප්‍රතිස්ථාපනය කෙරුණු ඉතාමත්ම සාර්ථක චිත්‍රපටිය මෙය විය හැකි අතර එය ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාගේ අපේක්ෂාවන්ගෙන් ඔබ්බට දිවෙන බව පැහැදිලිය. හුස්ම තද වන තරම් සංවේදී මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ නිෂ්පාදන වටිනාකමත් විශිෂ්ට මට්ටමක පවතියි. එසේම ප්‍රධාන නළු දෙපල සහ ළමා නළුවන් තිදෙනාගේ සුන්දර සහ සංවේදී රංගනය එක් කල විට මෙය නැරඹීමට ගත කල කාලය ඇත්තෙන්ම වටිනාකමක් සහිත එකකි.

Upside Down (2012)

In recent past I have seeing only two sci fi movies that themed on humanity and love that’s worth mentioning of. One is Love (2012) which has a deeper version of love than we commonly speak of and the other is this one which is simply a remarkable feat of love in a more Romeo Juliet genre. Produced with ample amount of breath taking CG and at times too perfect than reality, Up Side Down is very rich in emotional department which many sci fi movies fail. And the plot is nothing like ever seeing which is a big plus for the success of this movie. More than a sci fi it feels like some fantasy flick with fantasy people who are from a planet we have never seeing.

 

මෑත කාලයේදී මාදුටු විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ චිත්‍රපටි වලින් ආදරය සහ මනුෂ්‍යත්වය ගැන කියවෙන කතා සහිත චිත්‍රපටි වලින් මා මතකයට නැගෙන්නේ දෙකක් පමණි. එකක් නම් Love (2012) නමැති අප නිතර නොදකින වඩාත් මිනිසාගේ පැවතීම හා බැඳුනු ආදරය ගැන කතා කෙරෙන චිත්‍රපටිය වන අතර දෙවැන්න මෙයයි. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඉතාමත්ම මනරම් වුනු රෝමියෝ සහ ජුලියට් ගනයේ ප්‍රේම වෘතාන්තයකි. හැඟීම් වලින් බොහෝ සම කාලින විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ ඇත්තෙන්ම බංකොලොත්. නමුත් අතිශය සාර්ථක සහ විටෙක සැබැවටත් වාඩා වැඩි ලස්සන පරිගණක විජ්ජා වලින් ගහන මේ චිත්‍රපටිය බොහෝ විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ චිත්‍රපටි වලටා වඩා හැඟීම් බර එකක් වීමත් විශේෂත්වයක්. එසේම මෙහි එන කතාවත් අද්විතීය එකක් වීම තුල චිත්‍රපටියේ කුතුහලය තවත් වැඩි වෙයි. විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධයකට වඩා ඔබ්බට ගිය මෙහි චරිත අප කිසි දා නොදුටු ග්‍රහ ලෝකයක වෙසෙන මිනිසුන් ගැන ලියවුනු අපුර්ව සිහින කතාවක් මෙන් හැඟෙයි.

 

මුහුණට මුනුනලා ඉතා ආසන්නයේ පිහිටා තිබෙන ග්‍රහ ලෝක දෙකක ජීවත් වන පෙම්වතුන් යුවලක් ඔවුන්ගේ ග්‍රහ ලෝක වල තිබෙන පරස්පර ගුරුත්වාකර්ෂණ ශක්තින් සහ සමාජයීය වෙනස් කම් නිසා අත් විඳින දුක් කම් කටොලු මෙහි මුලික තේමාවයි.

We Don’t Live Here Anymore (2004)

This movie speaks of one of the most critical issues of marriage in a most casual way. Adultery which is mostly taken as a reason for separations doesn't seems to click that hard to the four people in this. For a moment you might wonder if these people are numb of their mundane monotonous life. Or somewhat sinfully happy of their partners are involved with someone else so that in return they feel good about their own dirty secrets. This confusion brings in the beauty of the whole plot. It’s about dissatisfaction's of life and trying to live through them portrayed very well through a cinema.

මේ චිත්‍රපටිය විවාහය හා බැඳුනු මහත් බරපතලම ප්‍රශ්නයක් පිළිබඳව ඉතාමත්ම සාමන්‍යය අයුරකින් කතා කරන එකකි. විවාහ දෙදරා යාමේ මුලික පදනමක් සපයන පරදාර සේවනය මේ කතාවේ සිටින හතරදෙනාටනම් එතරම්ම ප්‍රශ්නයක් නොවන බවකි පෙනෙන්නේ. විටෙක ඔබට හිතෙන්නේ ඔවුන් තමන්ගේ ලෞකික නීරස ජීවිතය නිසාම මනස හිරි වැටී ඇති සෙයකි. තවත් විටෙක ඔවුන් ඔවුන්ගේ සහකාරයින්ගේ අයතා සම්බන්දතා ගැන පවිටු සතුටක් ලබන්නේ එනිසාම තමන්ගේ රහස් ජීවිතය ගැන ඔවුනට යම් කිසි තෘප්තියක් ලැබෙන හෙයින්ම විය හැකිය. මේ සියලු කාරනා එක් කොට ගත් කල මේ චිත්‍රපටයේ කතාවට අඳුරු රසවත් බවක් ලැබෙයි. එය හුදෙක්ම ජීවිතයේ අසතුටු බව සහ ඒවා තුලින් ජීවත් වීමට වෙර දැරීම ගැන කියවෙන චිත්‍රපටියකි.

Argo (2012)

Right at the start of this short review I must emphasize that this is a good movie but honestly it’s overrated by many critics and fans alike. From what I gather Argo is excellent in two perspectives. Those are the plot which has a historical background to it and the production value. These two coupled to give a quite realistic (from what I believe to be by saying realistic I compare the true historical footage with the ones depicted in the movie. And I have no idea of the way Iran and its people are portrayed as a whole is true and correct) and detailed look to the film. And the plot being a true one it has a good grip that at times is too good to be true. But then there could be always adjustments made to make the movie better than the things that had happened in real.

What’s ordinary about Argo is that there is no strikingly powerful acting or twists to the story. The story flows well and the acting goes good along with it but that’s about it. Comparing to many fictional movies that had similar themes of rescue missions such as Spy Game and Killer Elite this movie does not give the viewer that expected adrenaline rush. Argo could be close to heart for Americans which probably is the most rational reason for it to be claimed as one of the best movies made in 2012 but I see it otherwise.

මේ කෙටි විචාරය ආරම්භයේදීම කිව යුතු දෙය වන්නේ මගේ හැඟීමට අනුව Argo හොඳ චිත්‍රපටියක් බවත්, ඒ කෙසේ වෙතත් එය බොහෝ විචාරකයින් සහ රසිකයින් විසින් හඳුන්වන පරිදි ඉතා හොඳ එකක් නොවන බවත්ය. මෙය හොඳ වන්නට බලපාන ප්‍රධාන කරුණු දෙක වන්නේ කතාව සත්‍යය සහ ඉතිහාසමය වටිනාකමකින් යුක්ත වීමත් සහ නිෂ්පාදන වටිනාකම උසස් මට්ටමක පැවතීමත් යන දෙකයි. මේ දෙකේ සංකලනයෙන් චිත්‍රපටිය සත්‍යයට සමීප ( මා මෙහි ‘සත්‍යය’ යනුවෙන් හඳුන්වන්නේ චිත්‍රපටිය සහ 1980 ගණන් වල  පටිගත කල සිදුවීම් වල සැබෑ රූප රාමු අතර ඇති අව්‍යාජ සමානතාවය මිසක ඉරානය සහ එහි ජනතාව මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තුලින් පිළිබිඹු වන අයුර නොවේ. ඒ ගැන මා හට අවබෝධය නැත) සවිස්තරාත්මක ගතියක් ගනී. එමෙන්ම කතාව රසිකයා හා ඇලෙන බව දැනුනත් සමර විට එය අතිශයෝක්තියෙන් පිරුණු බවකුත් දැනේ. එයට හේතුව වන්නේ චිත්‍රපටියේ සාර්ථකත්වය උදෙසා සත්‍යය කතාවකට වුවත් යම් කිසි වෙනස් කම් කිරීමට අධ්‍යක්ෂවරය සිදු වීම නිසා විය යුතුය.

Argo ගැන සාමාන්‍යය දේවල් වන්නේ රංගනය සහ එතරම් විශේෂත්වයක් නොමැති කතාවේ ශයිලියයි. කතාවත් සමග රංගනයන් හොඳින් ගලා යන මුත් එතනින් ඔබ්බට සාර්ථකත්වයක් මේ දෙකෙහිම නොමැත. මින් පෙර මේ තේමාවට සමීපව අප දුටු Spy Game සහ Killer Elite වැනි ප්‍රභන්ධ චිත්‍රපටි කතා හා සසඳන විට ත්‍රාසය අතින් Argo පසු බැස්මක් පෙන්වයි. කතාවේ හරය නිසාම බොහෝ ඇමෙරිකානුවන්ට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය හදවතට සමීප එකක් වීමේ හැකියාව වැඩි නිසා මෙයට මෙතෙක් ලැබී ඇති පැසසුම් ගැන පුදුම විය යුතු නොවේ. නමුත් මාහට එය දැනෙන්නේ ඕනෑවට වඩා වැඩි පැසසුමක් ලෙසයි.
