Lawless is a story of crime and violence. And there are no good men and bad men here. It’s only bad ones. The question is who is bad and who is worst. Ultimately the movie is so effective and you have no choice but to like some of the meanest bad guys that runs illegal liquor and threatens the law in broad day light. The good thing is it’s based on a true events and characters.

 

There are some fine and strong characters in this movie. And the cast carries them out very well. Especially Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce being the heads of the two sides in the battle have lot to put on the table. And finally Shea LeBeouf is growing up to be a man choosing a different character filled role.

 

More than fine cinematography, catchy score and commendable directing are only few good things about this. There is plenty more coming in from the script, sets, details and production value. Above all that Lawless is a one stop action packed gangster run with plenty of blood spilling about but will not make you look away till everything ends.

 

වසර 1920 ගණන් වල ඇමෙරිකාවේ මත් පැන් පානය සහ නිෂ්පාදනය නීතියෙන් තහනම් වුනු යුගයකි. එකල හොර මත් පැන් ජාවාරම යසට සිදු කල අය්ය මලෝ තිදෙනෙකු වටා ගෙතුණු සත්‍ය සිදුවීම් මුල් කොටගත් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඔවුන් නිෂ්පාදනය කරන හොර අරක්කු වගේම ඇබ්බැහි විය හැකි එකක්. මෙහි හොඳ සහ නරක මිනිසුන් කියා දෙකොටසක් නොවේ. ඉන්නේ නරක මිනිසුන් පමණි. නමුත් ඉන් වඩාත් නරක කවුද යන්න ඔබට තීරණය කිරීමට සිදු වන අතර අකමැත්තෙන් හෝ නරක මිනිසුන් කණ්ඩායමකට වඩාත් කැමති වීමටද ඔබට සිදු වෙය්.

 

මෙහි රංගනයන් සහ ප්‍රධාන චරිත සියල්ල හොඳින් ඉදිරිපත් කෙරෙය්. විෂශයෙන්ම කල්ලි දෙකේ මුල් තැන් ගත් ටොම් හාඩි සහ ගය් පියර්ස් ගේ රංගනයන් විශේෂ වෙය්. එමෙන්ම මුල්ම වරට ෂියා ලිබෞෆ් චරිතාංග නළුවෙක් ලෙසින් තම රංගන දිවියට නව පියවරක් තබය්.

 

ඉතා හොඳ අධ්‍යක්ෂණය, සිනමාකරණය, නිෂ්පාදන වටිනාකම, පසුබිම් සන්ගීතය මෙහි ඇති හොඳ අංග වලින් කිහිපයක් පමණි. එය ප්‍රබල ලෙස දාමරික සහ රුධිරය පිරි එකක් වුවද ඔබ අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම අග දක්වා  නරඹනවා ඇත.

I’m quite certain that this movie is one coming straight from the heart. And it is simply a magnificent mix of fantasy and true life woven so fine that for many it would leave with a load of warm feelings. Perhaps the most emotional fairy tale of a movie made in 2012.

 

Whichever the way you describe this movie to be sweet, fantasy, family, heartfelt or warm all of those definitions has its place in it. And the wonderful story and the characters are so memorably fantastic. The fine plot works straight one way and I can’t imagine it to be different and better. It has a perfect pitch, flow and ending that at one point would soak your eyes with tears if you ever known the meaning of lives foundations and childhood.

 

This movie is not for cinematography or for Oscar worthy directing. But it is sure one for the beating hearts. Cherishable!

 

දරුවන් ලැබීමේ භාග්‍යය අහිමි වී සොවින් පසු වන යුවලකට නොසිතු මොහොතක ආශ්චර්යයාතමකව දරුවෙක් හමු වනවා. මේ දරුවා ඉතා විශේෂ එමෙන්ම වෙනස් වන්නේ ඔහුගේ කකුල් වල තිබෙන පත්‍ර නිසාත් ඔහු මෙලොවට බිහි වන ආකාරය නිසාත්. මේ යුවල සහ දරුවා අතර ඇතිවන අසීමිත සෙනෙහස සහ ආදරය මේ චිත්‍රපටිය පුරාවට සුන්දර චිත්‍රයක් මෙන් සිත්තම් වෙනවා.

 

සුරංගනා කතා ලොවත් සැබෑ ලොවත් යන දෙකම එකට යා කරමින් ගෙතුණු මේ ලස්සන චිත්‍රපටිය තදින්ම හිතට දැනෙන මනරම් එකක්. එය ආරම්භයේ සිට අග දක්වාම එකම අරමුණක් එනම් මව් පිය සෙනෙහස මුල් කොට ගෙනය ගෙතෙන්නෙ. මව් පිය සෙනෙහස මෙතරම් රමනියව හුවා දැක්වෙන මනංකල්පිත චිත්‍රපටියක් මගේ මතකයට තවත් නැගෙන්නේ නැහැ.

 

සම්මාන ලැබීමට තරම් හොඳ අධ්‍යක්ෂණයක් හෝ සිනමාකරණයක් මේ චිත්‍රපටියෙහි නැහැ. ඇත්තේ ගැහෙන හදවත් වලට කතාකරන හඬක් පමණි. සුන්දරය්!!

Built upon a very imaginative and creative scientific theory, Looper is no doubt one of the best science fictions of the year. Or even maybe in the Hollywood history. It is gripping, thrilling and surprisingly dramatic as well. Some may call it a hybrid of a smart Sci Fi and a mob movie with a touch of terminator to it. Whatever it is its highly enjoyable no doubt.

 

The very fact that it has a somewhat previously successfully tested plot taken in to new heights itself is a good reason to watch it. The bad guy from the future, good guy who tries to stop him and the mother and child situation all looks a bit similar. But that’s just a vague expiation to the brilliance of this tale. It has much more to offer in shallow and in deep is a mind boggling piece. There may be dozens of questions for you to find answers yet to if you have already seeing it. Or maybe you are quite happy the way it is. Whichever all you will remember is that you have witnessed a find science fiction movie that has a large potential of becoming a franchise.

චිත්‍රපටිය බලා අවසන් වුනු පසු ඔබට විසඳා ගැනීමට ප්‍රශ්න කිහිපයක් ඉතුරුවෙනම් එය පුදුමයට කරුණක් නොවේ. සමරවිට මෙතනින් ඒවාට විසඳුමක් ලැබේවි.

I’ve being a fan of the game and the movie franchise alike for over a decade now. But seriously I think I don’t wanna watch anything related to Resident Evil anymore after watching this. Because this one is a huge let down and it doesn’t even come closer to what a good movie or even a moderate one is. I don’t know maybe being a TV series Walking Dead has put up an amazing standard for zombies where even movies like this big in budget doesn’t’ come close. Very bad plot, script and acting it cover up its ass with an overdose of computer graphics. And that makes it worse. Disappointed to the core!

 

බොහෝ කලක් තිස්සේ Resident Evil පරිගණක ක්‍රීඩා සහ චිත්‍රපටිවලට ඇලුම් කල මා මේ චිත්‍රපටිය නැරඹීමත් සමග ඉතා කලකිරීමට ලක් වූ බව කිව යුතුය්. මින් පෙර තිරගත වුනු මෙහි මුල් චිත්‍රපටි පෙළ සම්මානනිය ඒවා නොවුවද අඩුම තරමේ මුල සිට අගට බැලිය හැකි යම් කිසි රසාස්වාදයක් ඒවායේ ගැබ් වුනි. නමුතු මෙහි පිටපතේ පටන් රංගනය දක්වා සියල්ල ඉතා බෙලහීන තත්වයකය් පවතින්නේ. ඕනවට වඩා වැඩි පරිගණක මායා විසින් එය තවත් දුක්කිත තත්වයකට ඇද දමනවා.

Rather than being just another movie about a step mother trying to have a difficult connection with her step son this movie actually goes beyond the mundane for a very good reason. That is the excellent performance by the Oscar worthy Natalie Portman. She delivers yet another powerful acting as a disturbed and a complicated young woman who lost her child at the infant stage. It is a very hard to portray character with many emotions and strong feelings to bear up. And Natalie does is so well that even I not being a woman feels the emotions so strong. In that case I’m sure if you’re a woman you will understand her better than me.

 

The plot has a good balance. There are few characters and one or two side story lines in it too. And all of them fuel the main plot with or without interfering directly to it. And the tale flows with good phase bringing the most emotional moments to life with a good pause in between. Apart from being all that it’s a movie that could be watched with a mild heart and to fathom about.

විටෙක ඉතා ප්‍රබල හැඟීම් ජනිත කරවන තවත් විටෙක පිහාටුවක් සේ සැහැල්ලු මේ චිත්‍රපටිය නතාලිගේ තවත් විශිෂ්ට රංගන දායකත්වය සමග සිතට දැනෙන එකක්. මා කාන්තාවක් නොවුවද ඇයගේ හද ගැස්ම මටද දැනේ. ඔබ කාන්තාවක්නම් ඒ ගැන කුමක් පවසම්ද ?

All western stories are not complete if there is no man hunt and gun slinging action. And a horse never dies a natural death but by the hands of its master! And that sums up Seraphim Falls as well. There is a man on the run and couple of men on the chase with many horses. All of them go through cold and hot terrains which are equally mind blowing landscapes but nothing wait for them except revenge, greed and death.

 

What’s different about this is that the main leads are prominent Hollywood figures and that being Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan it definitely increases the value. And technically the performances are very good. You feel the pain of a bullet in your arm and getting abandoned in the hot desert alike. The story flow well and there is no boredom. And there is a good critical moment of the plot reserved for the last moment where everything becomes clear. If you’re a fan of good old western flicks this will not disappoint you.
