Bridge of Madison County (1995)

Love is the root of life and the most wonderful thing out there. It makes you outlive any hardship and gives you the courage and blesses to survive. Hollywood once was great in its romance section. Lately majority of their love stories have become dull, repeats, heartless, too complicated or too good to be true. And finally not so humanely possible and artificial like Twilight. But this movie is genuinely romantic. It is unique, very much possible and filled with warmness. The Bridges of Madison County will make you fall in love.

 

The middle aged Meryl Streep delivers a true to life very natural and simply gorgeous performance as a house wife living in a lonely farm with her family leaving all the dreams she once wanted to have. And then comes older but yet handsome Clint Eastwood a lonely photographer and a traveler looking for some article about the area. And when they meet what sparks can be cherished in heart for a lifetime living all over again to warm up the coldest of nights. This movie is utterly soul touching and cinematically peaceful and beautiful. There are long scenes of conversations and explanations. But it’s moments of silence speaks the most meaningful dialogues.

 

ප්‍රේමය යනු ජීවිතයේ පදනමය්. එය ඔබට ජීවිතය ජීවත් කිරීමටත් එහි සියලු භාදක ජය ගැනීමට ශක්තිය සහ ආශිර්වාදය ලබා දෙයි. හොලිවුඩය ප්‍රේම කතා වලට ඉතා ප්‍රසිද්ධ කාලයක් තිබිණ. නමුත් මෑත කාලීන බොහොමයක් ප්‍රේම කතා හුදෙක් බොල්, නවමු බැවින් තොර, හැඟීම්බර නැති එමෙන්ම සැබෑ ජීවිතයට යා කල නොහැකිතරම් කෘතීම ඒවා බවට පත්වීම දුක්මුසු කරුණකි. Twilight වැනි සමහර කතා කෙතරම් කෘතිමද කිව හොත් ඒවා ප්‍රේමය නමැති සුන්දර මානුෂික අත්දැකීමට විෂ එකතු කළේය. නමුත් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඇත්තෙන්ම ප්‍රේමනීය එමන්ම නිතර නොදකින, ජීවිතයට යහමින් යා වන උණුසුම් පෙම් කතාවකි.

 

දක්ෂ නිලි තවමත් මැදි වියේ පසුවන මෙරිල් ස්ට්‍රීප් තම පවුලත් සමග සුන්දර ගොවිපලක වෙසෙන ගෘහනියක්. ඇගේ රංගනය ඉතාමත් තාත්වික එමෙන්ම සුන්දර එකක්. මේ අතර වයසින් වැඩි නමුත් කඩවසම් ක්ලින්ට් ඉස්ට්වුඩ් තනිවූ චයාරුපශිල්පියෙකුගේ චරිතයට පන පොවමින් එම ප්‍රදේශයට පැමිණෙනවා. ඔවුන්ගේ කෙටි හමුවීමෙන් පසු ඇති වන්නා වූ හැඟීම් ජීවිත කාලයක් පුරාවට ඔවුන්ව ශීතල රාත්‍රීන් සියල්ල උණුසුම් කිරීමට තරම් ඒවා වෙයි. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තදින් සිතට දැනෙන එමෙන්ම සිනමාකරණයේ සුන්දර එකක්. එහි දිගු කතා බස් සහිත ජවනිකා වෙයි. නමුත් වැඩියෙන්ම කතා කරන ජවනිකා වල වචනයකුදු නොවේ.

Last time I saw Eastwood as a coach or anything related to a sport was in Million Dollar Baby. And if you have the slightest expectation of seeing that same qualities with Trouble with the Curve you are gravely mistaken. This is just another sports movie which doesn’t even comes close to what Eastwood can actually do. And to be honest the very reason I watched it from start to end was because of Eastwood and for a fact he doesn’t let his role down. But this movie is not really good material for him to be involved with.

 

As a sport movie this packs some mild gravity and punch for the game. And it’s funny than being a serious drama but I don’t see this to be tagged as a comedy anywhere. Anyways acting wise it’s all good. Cinematography not quite creative or extraordinary. I’ve seeing great inspiring sports movies in the past couple of years so this comparatively is a letdown.

 

 ක්ලින්ට් ඉස්ට්වුඩ් ගේ පතාක නාමයට පින් සිදු වන්නට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය යම් කිසි තරමකට වෙනස් එකක් බවට පත්වෙය්. නමුත් ඔබ සිතන්නේ එය ක්ලින්ට් මින් පෙර දායක වූ Million Dollar Baby වැනි චිත්‍රපටියක් කියානම් ඔබ හරියටම වැරදි!! මෙය ඒ අහල පහලින්වත් නොයන සාමාන්‍යය ක්‍රීඩා තේමාවක් රැගත් නාට්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක්.

 

එහි ඇත්තේ බේස්බෝල් කණ්ඩායම් සඳහා දක්ෂ ක්‍රීඩකයින් බඳවාගන්නා වයස් ගත තොරතුරු සොයා බලන්නෙක් සහ ඔහුගේ දියණිය අතර තිබෙන සංකීර්ණ සම්බන්දතාවය ගැන ගෙතුණු කතාවක්. කතාව මීට වඩා ප්‍රබල ලෙසින් ඉදිරිපත් කල හැකිව තිබුනත් එය යම් තරමක ගිලිහි යන බවය් මට සිතෙන්නේ. බැරෑරුම් නාට්‍යයකට වඩා හාස්‍යය ඉලිප්පෙන අවස්ථා ගණන වැඩි නිසා එය ඇත්තෙන්ම සිත තුල ධාරණය වන්නේ විනෝදාත්මක චිත්‍රපටියක් ලෙසින්. කෙසේ වෙතත් ඒ මුලික අඩු පාඩු හැරුණු කල චිත්‍රපටියක් වශයෙන් රස විඳීමේ හැකියාව මෙහි ඇත. නමුත් පසුගිය වසර කිහිපය තුල තිරගත වුනු ක්‍රීඩා චිත්‍රපටි සහ සැසඳීමේදී මෙය බංකොලොත් එකක්.
