I have this habit of not getting overwhelmed by ratings. And it reminds me that it’s a good habit when I watched this! To be frank it’s not a bad movie. But is it one of the best movies of the year? I certainly doubt that. Let me first tell what I think positive about it.

 

Cinematography is brilliant. The details, frame composition, mood etc etc makes it one of the most good looking movies so far. Score is good. It’s touchy, relevant and creative. The children’s acting is good. Most of the time they look more like programmed and not like true children but that then again I fathom is how the mood is created for the plot. Flow is nice and the peaks and drama well timed. In direction wise it is well made.

 

For the negatives, there are two plots side by side. One is an underage love story which is quite interesting from the way it’s told and the other is a mundane adult one. From these two adult one just doesn’t make any sense. For a moment I wonder if that is actually relevant. If so I must have felt it better which obviously I did not. And then there is a huge waste of cast. This has such great cast including Bruce, Norton, Murray and Frances but sadly none has a character that fits their personality. It’s not their fault honestly the plot has no room for them to be great.

 

This is a hybrid of a children’s movie and an adult drama. How you enjoy it depends on the mood age you are in.

 

මේ වසරේ නිකුත් වුනු හොඳම චිත්‍රපටි අතරට තේරී පත් වීමේ භාග්‍යය උදා කරගනු ලබන චිත්‍රපටි කිහිපය අතරට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඇතුලත්. ඒ කෙසේ වෙතත් මගේ පෞද්ගලික හැඟීම අනුව එය එසේ වන්නේ කෙසේද යන්න ප්‍රහේලිකාවක්. මෙය නරක චිත්‍රපටියක් නොවේ. නමුත් මෙය එතරම්ම හොඳද යන්න දෙවරක් සිතිය යුතු කරුණකි. මුලින්ම එහි හොඳ සලකා බලමු.

 

සිනමාකරණය සහ අධ්‍යක්ෂණය අතින් මෙය ඉතා විශිෂ්ටය. එහි රුප රාමු සියල්ල පාහේ ඉතා හොඳින් සැලසුම් කල ඒවා වෙය්. සංගීතයද අනර්ඝය. එය චිත්‍රපටියට ජීවයක් ගෙන දේ. ළමා රංගනයද හොඳ මට්ටමක පවතී. බොහෝ තැන්හිදී එය තාත්වික බවක් නොගන්නා මුත් එයින් චිත්‍රපටියේ ක්‍රියාවිධිය පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබය්.

 

මෙහි ප්‍රධාන අඩු පාඩු කිහිපයකි. පළමුවෙන්ම එහි කතාව ළමා සහ වැඩිහිටි වශයෙන් කොටස් දෙකකට වෙන් කල හැක. ළමා කතාව කෙසේ වෙතත් වැඩිහිටි කතාවේ හරයක් නැති තරම්ය. එය බොහෝ සරල එමෙන්ම නොගැඹුරු එකකි. එයින් චිත්‍රපටිය වටිනාකමක් එක වන්නේ අල්ප වශයෙනි. දෙවනුව මෙහි විශාල හැකියා අතිරික්තයක් පවතී. එසේ වන්නේ ප්‍රසිද්ධ චරිතාංග නළුවන් බොහෝ දෙනෙක් මෙයට දායක වුවද එයින් එක අයෙකුට හෝ සුදුසු චරිතයක් මේ නොමැති බැවිනි. එය ඔවුන්ගේ වරදක් නොව කතාවේ ඇති අඩු පාඩුවකි.

 

මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ළමා සහ වැඩිහිටි දෙමුහුන් එකකි. එය ඔබ කෙතරම් රස  විඳින්නේද යන්න රඳා පවතින්නේ ඔබ මෙය නරඹන අවස්ථාවේ පසුවන මොනොභාවයේ වයස අනුවය්.
