There are many movies that are gravely misunderstood by many critics. I believe this is one of those. For me I find it hard to find ‘The Words’ to explain how touching and dramatic of a tale this movie actually is. It got script, cast, acting, cinematography and most of all the very essence of mood that builds minute after minute unveiling a truce sense of a mysterious tale. And it’s a story within a story within another story. But if you really concentrate and read between each of them you have no other option but to engulf in it and love it.

 

The most prominent plus factor of ‘The Words’ for me its style of storytelling. It is said in a narrative style by three different people in different circumstances. But for the viewer it is so clear and there are no moments where one story line overruns another. And there are plenty of emotions pouring out starting from romance, expectation, determination, betrayal and guilt. If you have skipped this one reading all the negative reviews, my advice is to watch it. Forget all the reviews and just see it for yourself just like I did.

 

The Words බොහෝ ප්‍රවීන චිත්‍රපටි විචාරකයින් විසින් එක හෙලාම ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරන ලද නාට්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක්. නමුත් එයේ කිසි සේත් එසේ නොවිය යුතු බවය් මගේ හැඟීම වන්නේ. මක් නිසාද එය චිත්‍රපටියක් වශයෙන් එහි තිබිය යුතු සියලු අංග වලින් පිරිපුන් බැවිනි. එහි මුලිකම ශක්තිය වන්නේ මෙහි කතාව දිග හැරෙන ස්වරුපයය්.

 

මෙහි කතා තුනක් වෙය්. ඒ හැම කතාවක්ම තවත් කතාවක් තුලය් දිවෙන්නේ. එම නිසාම එය කියනු ලබන්නේ වෙනස් පුද්ගලයින් තිදෙනෙකු විසින්. ඉන් එක කතාවක් හෝ අන් කතාවලට වඩා අතිශයෝක්තියකින් යුතුව ප්‍රබල නොවීමට අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයා වග බලාගෙන තිබෙනවා. සැම කතාවක්ම චිත්‍රපටියෙහි මුලිකම අරමුණ වන බොරු කිරීම සහ කල කිරීම යන දෙකට අයත්. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තුලින් ගම්‍ය වන හැඟීම් ගොඩකි. එය ප්‍රේමය වේවා, බලාපොරොත්තුව වේවා, වංචාකිරීම වේවා හෝ පසු තැවිල්ල වේවා, ඒ සියලුම හැඟීම් එක් කොට ගත කල සුන්දර චිත්‍රපටියක්. චිත්‍රපටියෙහි කතාවන් සියල්ල නවකතා රචකයින්, ඔවුන්ගේ පුද්ගලික ජීවිත සහ බලාපොරොත්තු යන දේවල් වටා ගෙතෙය්. ඔවුන් තම සිහින සැබෑ කරගැනීමට කරන කැප කිරීම් තුලින් ඔවුන් ජීවිතයේ සත්‍යය අවබෝධ කරගන්නේද යන්න ඔබ තීරණය කල යුතු වෙය්.

Last time I saw Eastwood as a coach or anything related to a sport was in Million Dollar Baby. And if you have the slightest expectation of seeing that same qualities with Trouble with the Curve you are gravely mistaken. This is just another sports movie which doesn’t even comes close to what Eastwood can actually do. And to be honest the very reason I watched it from start to end was because of Eastwood and for a fact he doesn’t let his role down. But this movie is not really good material for him to be involved with.

 

As a sport movie this packs some mild gravity and punch for the game. And it’s funny than being a serious drama but I don’t see this to be tagged as a comedy anywhere. Anyways acting wise it’s all good. Cinematography not quite creative or extraordinary. I’ve seeing great inspiring sports movies in the past couple of years so this comparatively is a letdown.

 

 ක්ලින්ට් ඉස්ට්වුඩ් ගේ පතාක නාමයට පින් සිදු වන්නට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය යම් කිසි තරමකට වෙනස් එකක් බවට පත්වෙය්. නමුත් ඔබ සිතන්නේ එය ක්ලින්ට් මින් පෙර දායක වූ Million Dollar Baby වැනි චිත්‍රපටියක් කියානම් ඔබ හරියටම වැරදි!! මෙය ඒ අහල පහලින්වත් නොයන සාමාන්‍යය ක්‍රීඩා තේමාවක් රැගත් නාට්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක්.

 

එහි ඇත්තේ බේස්බෝල් කණ්ඩායම් සඳහා දක්ෂ ක්‍රීඩකයින් බඳවාගන්නා වයස් ගත තොරතුරු සොයා බලන්නෙක් සහ ඔහුගේ දියණිය අතර තිබෙන සංකීර්ණ සම්බන්දතාවය ගැන ගෙතුණු කතාවක්. කතාව මීට වඩා ප්‍රබල ලෙසින් ඉදිරිපත් කල හැකිව තිබුනත් එය යම් තරමක ගිලිහි යන බවය් මට සිතෙන්නේ. බැරෑරුම් නාට්‍යයකට වඩා හාස්‍යය ඉලිප්පෙන අවස්ථා ගණන වැඩි නිසා එය ඇත්තෙන්ම සිත තුල ධාරණය වන්නේ විනෝදාත්මක චිත්‍රපටියක් ලෙසින්. කෙසේ වෙතත් ඒ මුලික අඩු පාඩු හැරුණු කල චිත්‍රපටියක් වශයෙන් රස විඳීමේ හැකියාව මෙහි ඇත. නමුත් පසුගිය වසර කිහිපය තුල තිරගත වුනු ක්‍රීඩා චිත්‍රපටි සහ සැසඳීමේදී මෙය බංකොලොත් එකක්.

Let it run for 5 minutes and BOOM. You’re hooked! This is a fine thriller. Putting the usual good faces and bad faces on a swap it is an unexpected thrill ride which is predictable but enjoyable none the less. There could have being more character development. But it doesn’t really have an impact on the plot. In fact there are 3 plots in play. All of them pass their own roads and leads to Rome. One is a crime story, one is a love story and one is a family story. But all of them tangled in a crime thriller and a ruthless killer who seems to be insane than brutal. Nice but moderate plot with decent acting it is a good watch.

 

මංකොල්ලයක පැටලුනු අය්යා නගෝ දෙදෙනෙකගෙන් අය්යා සිත් පිත් නැති මිනි මරුවෙක්. නැවත අතපසුවීමකින් අපරාධයක පැටලුනු සිරෙන් නිදහස් වී පැමිණෙන තරුණයෙක්. පිරිමින්ගේ ලොවෙහි තම තැන අහිමි වූ කාන්තා පොලිස් නිලධාරිනියක්. මේ සියලු දෙනාම එකම අපරාධ දැලක පැටලෙන් කතාවය් Deadfall. එය මුල් විනාඩි කිහිපය ගතවෙද්දීම ඔබව කතාව තුලට ඇදගනී. බොහෝ දුරට සංකීර්ණ නොවුණු හුරුපුරුදු කතා තේමාවක් වුවත් එය හොඳින් ඉදිරිපත් කෙරෙනු ලබය්. බොහෝ කුතුහලය දනවන සිද්ධීන් ගණනාවක් නිසා ඔබ මෙය එක දිගටම රසවිඳිනු ඇත.

This is a cop movie. Just like many other cop movies it has cops, rough neighborhoods and criminals. What’s better in here is it’s not just cops that run the plot. There is brotherhood, friendship and heroism that make this one special.  And the viewer is put in the center of action so well that most of the time you will forget to breath. And rolling from the creators of Training Day there is much similarity here but a totally different piece of a movie that can be watched nonstop start to end.

 

The leading duo is dynamic, funny and equally serious. They are portrayed by Jake and Pena so damn well that you will sure to get beaten up by their schedule. And the game style first person camera views just add plain intense drama. And when the chase is on you have no option but to stick with it following the lead of the barrel of the gun. Good plot, good action, good acting and good cinema all over this you should not miss if you’re a fan of crime and thrill. And the trivia says that the F word is used 326 times making it sixth in the all time profanity list!!

 

නිව් යෝක් නගරයේ පොලිස් නිලධාරින් දෙදෙනෙක් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ එදි නෙදා කාර්යය රටාවත්, ඔවුනට එහිදී මුහුණ දීමට වන බියකරු සහ බිහිසුණු අත්දැකීම් ගැන ලියවුනු කතාවකි End of Watch. මෙහිදී ඔබට දක්නට ලැබෙන්නේ හුදෙක්ම පොලිස් නිලධාරින් දෙදෙනෙක්ම නොවේ. ඔවුන් තම දිවි එකිනෙකා වෙනුවෙන් පරදුවට තැබීමට තරම් රැකියාවට සහ තම මිතු දමට ගරු කරන්නන්. ඒ නිසාම මේ චිත්‍රපටිය අනෙකුත් ත්‍රාසජනක පොලිස් චිත්‍රපටි ගොන්නට වඩා වෙනස් බවක් දැනේ. එමෙන්ම එය මුල සිට අග දක්වාම ඉතා හොඳින් ගෙතුණු ක්‍රියාදාම රැසක් පිරි එකක්.

 

මෙහි ප්‍රධානය චරිත දෙක රඟපාන්නේ ජේක් සහ පෙඥා. ඔවුන් සැබවින්ම ඒ චරිත දෙකට ඉතා ගැලපෙන එමෙන්ම සාධාරණත්වයක් ඉටු කරන නළුවන් දෙපලක්. ක්‍රියාදාම පරිගණක ක්‍රීඩාවන්ට හුරුකම් කියනා කැමරා කෝණයන් නිසා ඔබට ක්‍රියාදාම ඉතා හොඳින් රස විඳීමේ හැකියාවත් ලැබේ. ඔබට තිබෙන්නේ තුවක්කු බටයේ අග එල්ලී පොලිසියත් සමග නගරය වටා සැරි සැරිමය්. F අකුරෙන් පටන් ගන්නා වචන නම් මෙහි ඕනෑවටත් වැඩි. එය 326ක් බව ගණන් බලා තිබෙනවා!

Emotions are good. But too many of them are not. This movie is about two individuals who are excessively emotional and has skipped the best experiences and moments in life due to that very reason. It happens so that when you are too afraid to do things, face challenges, understand feelings or express them the life can be pretty boring.

 

It’s  another sweet and funny love story put deliciously with a taste of chocolate coating with it. There is plenty of moments to get a mouth full of chocolate as the plot most of the time takes place in a small chocolate factory in the city. With that and the very unique behaviors of the lead characters it becomes even more interesting. And than many other movies its runs a short time comparatively. But the effect of love is intact none the less. And very emotional and sweet performances by the main roles will make you sink in.

 

බොහොමයක් හැඟීම් හරි සුන්දරය්. නමුත් ඕනෑවට වඩා හැඟීම් බර වීම නම් ප්‍රශ්නයක්. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය එවැනි අධි හැඟීම් බර යුවලක් වටා ගෙතුණු එකක්. ඔවුන් ජීවිතයට මුහුණදීමට ඇති බිය නිසාම බොහෝ අපහසුතාවලට ලක් වන දෙදෙනෙක්. එවැනි දෙදෙනෙක් පෙමින් වෙලුනොත් සිටුදන්නේ කුමක්ද ? මේ චිත්‍රපටිය එයට හොඳ පිළිතුරු ටිකක් ඔබට දේවි.

 

ප්‍රේමය සහ හාස්‍යය හොඳින් චෝකොලට් සමග මුසු කල කතාවක් මේ අඩන්ගුය්. ඒ මේ දෙපලම රැකියාව කරන්න නගරයේ පුංචි චොකොලට් කර්මාන්තශාලාවක නිසා. ඒ නිසාම කතාවේ ප්‍රේම රසය වගේ පැණි රසයත් හරිම වැඩි. සමහරවිට ඔබට දැන්ම කඩේට දුවල චොකොලට් එකක් ගේන්න සිතේවි!! ඒවගේම ප්‍රධාන චරිත දෙකේ ලස්සන රංගනය නිසා බලන්න ඉන්නත් ආසා හිතේවි. හරිම සුන්දර ප්‍රංශ පෙම් කතාවක්.

LOVE is a mind boggling and satisfying piece of great science fiction in play. Why I said mind boggling is that though most science fictions has its own way of explaining themselves or make assumptions on the viewer’s mind but this goes too far extremes of it. Whatever you see here is very heard to interpret in to layman terms at one go. Maybe watching it a couple of times would do wonders to your brain and it’s recommended to do so.

 

Most of the events that take place can be shallowly explained saying its mental projections within an astronauts mind who have being abandoned in space for a long period of time. There you might find mild similarities between Moon (2009) which is another great Sci Fi which you should not miss. Anyways coming back to LOVE, when the plot reveals further details there are many strong connections can be made with deep reality and emotions. And the whole movie is based upon human race and their capacity to love each other which ultimately shows that the very most important thing for our existence.

 

What’s great about this movie is the style of its story telling. It starts from 1864 in the American civil war and rapidly moves to 2036 where a new international space station at work. But these two story lines are woven together throughout without clearly explaining how they relate to each other. But when it does it’s a whole new movie experience discovered. And the poor international ratings this movie has recieved in most rating arenas can be a sign of deteriorating emotions of the human kind. Brilliant no doubt!

 

ඉතා හොඳ විධ්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ බොහොමයක් එක එල්ලේ තම අරමුණ පැහැදිලි කිරීමක යෙදෙන්නේ නැති අතර ඒවා සැම විටකම පාහේ ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා හට සිතන්නට යමක් ඉතුරු කරය්. LOVE එවැනි සිතන්නට ඉතා ප්‍රබල අරමුණක් ඉතුරු කරන ඉතා සාර්ථක චිත්‍රපටියක්. මෙහි එන සිදුවීම් පෙළ මේයය් කියා සුළුවෙන් විස්තර කර දීම එක හෙලාම අපහසු කරුණකි. ඒ මෙම කතාවේ ඇති ගැඹුරත්, වචනයෙන් විස්තර නොකෙරෙන නොයෙක් ඉඟි සහ සිද්ධීන් දාමයකුත් මෙහි අඩංගු බැවිනි.

 

වසර 2036 දී අන්තර්ජාතික අභ්‍යවකාශ මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ තනිව සේවය කරන කපිතාන් ලී මිලර් හට පෘතුවිය සමග තිබෙන සබඳතාවයන් හදිසියේ නැති වී යනවා. ඔහු වසර ගණනාවක් එම යානය තුලට වී අපේක්ෂා භංගත්වයෙන් යුතුව කාලය ගත කරන අතර යානය තුල තිබී 1864 දී ලියන ලද සොල්දාදුවෙකුගේ සටහන් පොතක් ඔහුට හමුවෙනවා. නමුත් මේ සටහන් පොත සහ කපිතාන් මිලර්ගේ අජටාකාශ ගමන අතර ඇති සබඳතාවය ඔබට දැන ගන්නට ලැබෙන්නේ ඉතා වක්‍ර ආකාරයකටය්. නමුත් එයින් ඔබට ඇති වන ප්‍රශ්න සියල්ලටම පිළිතුරු ලැබේද යන්න කිව නොහැකි. මන්ද LOVE යනු කුසගින්නේ සිටින මනසට වැටෙන ආහාරයක් නිසා විටෙක එහි රසයෙන් ඔබ මුලා කිරීමටද හැකි නිසාය.

 

මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ මුලික ස්තරය වන්නේ ආදරයයි. එනම් මිනිසා විසින් එකිනෙකාට ආදරය කිරීම තුල තම පැවැත්ම රඳා පවතින බවත් එම ආදරය නැති කල්හි මිනිස් සංහතිය නොසිතු ලෙස ලොවින් තුරන් වන බවත් එහි ප්‍රබල පණිවිඩයයි. එය තේරුම් ගත් කල්හි ඔබ මේ චිත්‍රපටිය වෙනස්ම ආකාරයකට මතකයෙහි තබා ගනු නිසැකය. ජාත්‍යන්තර චිත්‍රපටි දර්ශක වල මේ චිත්‍රපටියට ලැබී තිබෙන අගය අඩු වීමම මිනිසුන් වශයෙන් අප පරිහානියට පත්වීම කියා පාන්නක්ද?
