The Prodigies (2011)(France)

While the animation resembles bits and pieces of ‘Scanner Darkly’ the plot and feel of this flick is totally different. And the animation quality is quite awesome bringing very different style of visuals all together. One reason I hanged on was the CG and its masterful presentation. The plot is kind of super heroic and Sci Fi at the same time. But you don’t find anything out of the ordinary.

This movie covers a deep yet ugly reality of contemporary European mafia and its roots spreading in ultimate directions. Something’s you might see looks utterly unrealistic and it’s hard to imagine such livelihoods and lifestyles exist out there. This portray the bitter side of people who are caught up in the struggle of power, violence and corruption while points a finger at you indirectly for being blind. The intention of this movie is not to make the audience sad or make the gangsters look like heroes. But to live their lives, feel their minds and be one with a set of people who are pushed by circumstances that are so extreme.

Japanese artists and movie makers have stunned the world of anime for a very long time now. No other movie makers even the big budget Hollywood has come close to the masterpieces the Japs we capable of creating. This flick is one of those touching and utterly mind and eye pleasing piece of anime work. Yet again the plot is fantastic with a touch of fantasy and reality mix together to be strangely realistic. The drawings are mind blowing and also close to heart. All hardcore anime fans will not miss this.

 

ජපන්නුන්ගේ සිනමා සහ කාටුන් සම්ප්‍රදායක් වන ‘ඇනිමේ’ වර්ගයට අයත් තවත් විශිෂ්ට සිනමා සිත්තමක්. සාම්ප්‍රදායික අතින් ඇඳි කාටුන් වලින් ඔබ්බට  නොගිය මෙය ඇත්තෙන්ම බලන්න වටිනා සුන්දර අත්දැකීමක්. සත්‍යය සහ මිත්‍යාව එකට කලවම් කල ලස්සනම ලස්සන කතාවක්ද මෙහි තිබෙනවා. හිත සහ වත දෙකම ලස්සන පුංචි මායාකාරියක් වෙන කිකි සමග ඇගේ කොස්සේ නැගල රවුමක් යන්න ආසනම් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය බලන්න.

This is what it is and the name has no hidden meaning. This movie is based around a group of riot cops who face protesters day in and day out and daring situations which many of us will not stand to face. Violent, arrogant but they obey the orders whatever they maybe. From the view of the society they are just a bunch of filthy servants of law who has no feelings or wetness in heart. This may be true and maybe not you will get to decide once you watch it. This flick is no doubt a powerful drama that speaks of a different side of society.

 

කාකි ඇඳුමින් සැරසුණු සුනඛයින් ගැන ඔබත් අසා ඇත්නම් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඔබට බොහෝ දේ පසක් කරාවි. මෙය ගෙතෙන්නෙ සමාජය විසින් පිළිකුල් කෙරෙන එසේ නමුත් නීතියට සහ රජයට අත්‍යාවශ්‍යය කැරලි මර්ධන පොලිසියේ සෙබළුන් කිහිප දෙනෙක් වටායි. ඔවුන් සිතින් මෙන්ම ගතින්ද සවිමත් නමුත් මනසක් නැති සතුන් රැලක්ද එසේත් නැත්නම් සමාජයේ ඔබ අප විසින් සිදු කිරීමට අකමැති නමුත් සිදු කල යුතු මෙහෙවරක් කරන්නවුන්ද කියා තීරණය කිරීම ඔබට භාරය්. අතිශයින්ම සිනමාවට නුහුරු තේමාවක් රැගත් බලවත් සිනමා කෘතියක් මෙය.

A Separation (2011) (Iran)

Not only in recent past but this is one of the best works of cinema I have ever seeing. Coming from Iran and made their way up to become the best foreign language movie award at the Oscar’s, this movie deserves every inch of that award. For plain 2 hours this movie will fill you with emotions, blow you away with tension and rob yourself off your senses and at the end leaves you thinking and shattered. This is not anything other than pure amazing movie making. The script is perfect. It’s just perfect. Acting is astonishing as the cast portray their potential right throughout in each tough scene starting from the very beginning. I don’t recall of seeing such mesmerizing acting by any recent movie. Do yourself a favor and watch this immediately. You do not know what you’re missing until you do.

 

යම් කිසිවෙක් මගෙන් හොඳ සිනමාව යනු කුමක්ද කියා යම් දවසක විමසුවොත් අද පටන් මට එය A separation කියා ආඩම්බරයෙන් කිව හැකි. සිනමාව යනු මෙය නොවේනම් වෙන කුමක්ද? මොහොතක් මොහොතක් පාසා ඔබගේ මනසේ ඉතා ගැඹුරු තැන් පවා තදින් ස්පර්ශ කරමින් ගතවෙන මේ හෝරා දෙක ඇත්තෙන්ම බොළඳ සිනමාවෙන් පීඩිත වූ සුවහසක් රසිකයින්ට පිදෙන දිව්‍යමය ඔසුවක්‌. එකිනෙකට නෙදෙවෙනි ප්‍රධාන චරිත ගොන්නක් සහ එයට පන පොවන අති විශිෂ්ට රංගන ශිල්පීන්ගේ ප්‍රතිභාව ඔබ දුටුවොත්, මෙතෙක් කල් ඔබ රඟපෑම යයි විශ්වාස කල සියලු මිත්‍යාවන් බිඳී යනු නියතය්. අග්‍රගන්‍ය තිර රචනය සහ එහි ඔබටත් නොදැනී ගලා යන ජීවිතය නම් වූ සුන්දර කටුකත්වය විඳ ගන්න. ඔබට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ජීවිත කාලයක් මතක සිටීවි.
