Who are the makers of mankind and where are we come from? Prometheus builds superficial yet fascinating answers to the most burning questions the man kind ever had which only the religions have answered so far. It’s a mind blowing journey to a distant corner of the universe looking for answers. The movie takes place in future where the age of man conquering other galaxies. Yet many of the questioned doesn’t get answered to the fullest satisfaction this would be one of those Sci Fi movies that I would say ‘Breathtaking’. It’s a masterpiece in its set creation and visual effects that would set the viewer in a future and place where nothing is left for imagination. The details are enormous and scenes are spectacular. With little character development to go with and much remains a mystery even after the mega end it still echoes to eternity. What’s good about the questioned unanswered is that I would still try to imagine the rest and come up with my own theories. Though the plot sounds familiar and many theories we must have witnessed before, Prometheus is a major cinema experience this year. Do not miss it!

මිනිසාගේ සැබෑ මැවුම් කරු කවුද? මිනිසාගේ මුල බීජය සිටවුයේ කොතැනකද? මෙවැනි මිනිසා විසින් එතෙක් මෙතෙක් අසන ලද ගැඹුරුම එමෙන්ම ආගම් පමණක් යම් කිසි නිසි පිළිතුරක් ලබාදුන් ප්‍රශ්න වලට මනංකල්පිත එමෙන්ම චිත්තාකර්ශනීය පිළිතුරැ ගොන්නක් රැගත් චිත්‍රපටියකි “ප්‍රොමිතියස්”. මිනිසා විසින් අනෙකුත් ක්ෂිරපත තරණය කරන අනාගතයේ දිනක, පිළිතුරු සොයා විශ්වයේ ඈත කොනකට ගමන් කරනා කණ්ඩායමක් වටා මේ විධ්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධය ගෙතෙනවා. චිත්‍රපටිය සියලු ප්‍රශ්න වලට නිසි පිළිතුරු ලබා දීමට අපොහොසත් උනත් එය කතාවේ උද්වේගකර බවට සහ සාර්ථකත්වයට එතරම්ම හානියක් නොවන බවය් මට හැඟුනේ. ඉතාමත්ම විශිෂ්ට ලෙස නිම කෙරුණු පරිගණක මායා දර්ශන ගොන්නකින් එකොන මෙකොන යා කෙරෙන  “ප්‍රොමිතියස්” මනස උත්තේජනය කරන්නට තරම් සොභනියය්. එමෙන්ම විටෙක මුහුදු පතුලක් සේ නිශ්චල අතර තවත් විටෙක රුදුරු දල රල මෙන් ප්‍රචණ්ඩය්. අඩු චරිත ගවේෂණයකින් හෙබි මේ චිත්‍රපටිය රංගනයන් අතින් විශිෂ්ට එකක් නොවේ. නමුත් එය මේ වසරේදී ඔබට දකින්නට ලැබෙන ඇති දැවැන්තම විධ්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධයන්ගෙන් එකක් වනු ඇත.

Oh boy this was a feast! I don’t have the words to appreciate the crew who made this wonderful movie a possibility. Set in the deep natural beautify of the dense forests of Africa and surrounding a chimpanzee clan day in and day out, this documentary tale is one of ‘the’ best of such genre. It flows smooth with awesome footages of the chimpanzees and the nature alike and tops in cinematography. Wonderfully narration and beautiful score adds value to the tale without being over prominent throughout. If you are going to watch this in HD you will be seriously surprised by some of the breathtaking time lapse cinematography sequences. Especially glowing mushrooms in the dark and rain storm with heavy lightning. I simply cannot imagine hardships the crew must have gone completing this.

You will watch this and definitely add this to your favorite’s collection.

අප්‍රිකානු ඝන වනාන්තරයේ ජීවත් වන චිම්පන්සි රංචුවක් සහ එහි සිටින සුරතල් චිම්පන්සි පැටවෙක් සහ ඔහුගේ ජීවිතය වටා ගෙතුණු කතාවක් රැගත් වාර්තාමය චිත්‍රපටියක්. ඔබව මවිතයට පත් කරවන්නට හැකි දර්ශන දුසිම් ගණන් මෙහි ඇතුලත්. එමෙන්ම ඔබ කිසිදා නොදකින සොබාදහමේ සහ වන ජීවයේ සුන්දරත්වය, දුෂ්කරබව සහ විනොදත්වයද හොඳ පදමින් මෙහි ගැබ් වී තිබෙනවා. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය නිෂ්පාදනය කිරීම කිසි සේත්ම ලෙහෙසි පහසු කාරයක් නොවුණු බව නම් හැඟී යන්නට ඔබට වැඩි වෙලාවක් ගත නොවේවි. තම රැකියාවට සහ මුදලට වඩා එහි ඇති අභියෝග සහ සුන්දරබව ගැන උදම් වන ලස්සන නිර්මාණකරුවන් ලොවෙහි සිටින බවට මෙය හොඳ නිදසුනක්.   ඔබ මෙතක් දැක නැති රාත්‍රී කාලයට දිදුලන හතු සහ ඝන වනයට අද හැලෙන මොර සුරන වැස්සේ අත්දැකීම් විඳගන්න කැමතිනම් අනිවාර්යයෙන් බලන්න. මෑත කාලයේදී මා දුටු විශිෂ්ටම වාර්තාමය සිනමා කෘතියක්.

Will he be able to put the big brain behind bars of will his cover blow up is for you to find out? But, just like Scarface of the west Protégé from the east will leave its scars deep. And will dramatically haunt your dreams for some time.

හොංග් කොංග් පුරේ දැවැන්තම මත් ද්‍රව්‍යය ජාලයේ අඩියටම හොර රහසේ කිමිදුනු පොලිස් නිලධාරියකු සහ ඔහුගේ මතට ඇබ්බැහි වුනු අසල්වැසි සුන්දර කාන්තාවක් වට ගෙතුණු සිත සසල කරවන පුවතක් රැගත් Protégé ආසියානු සිනමා කෘතියක්. ආසියාවේ සිනමාව කෙතරම් රසවත් එමෙන්ම ප්‍රබල එකක්ද කියා ඔප්පු කිරීමට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය හොඳ උදාහරණයක්. හොඳ අධ්‍යක්ෂණයකින් සහ පෙර සඳහන් කල පරිදි සංවේදී කතාවක්ද රැගත් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය සමාජයේ එක් විෂම දුෂිත පැතිකඩක් වෙත ඔබේ දෙනෙත් විවර කරාවි.

Truth be told this is way better than I expected and could be one of the most memorable romantic movies I have yet seeing. It’s not overly emotional thus you won’t cry or become dull after watching it. It’s just pure love and affection with a good load of humor that make you laugh every bit of the way. Its little over two hours in run time and that sure is bit longer for romance flick but you will not feel the length. It doesn’t drag or lag in the same place for too long and moves at a good phase. The plot is quite interesting with bit of predictability involved but there is no big harm from it. Simple acting which fits for a movie like this and nothing extraordinary. Lovers would definitely dig this one ladies and gents alike.

ලඟදි බලපු ආදර කතා වලින් හොඳම එකක් කීවොත් වරදක් නැහැ. කතාව සහ එහි රහයත් ඒ එක්කම මුසු වෙන හාස්‍යයත් නිසා වෙලාව යනවා දැනෙන්නෙත් නැහැ. ඒ වගේම කතාව එක තැන පල් නොවී හොඳ වේගයකින් ඉදිරියට ගමන් කරනවා. පැය දෙකකට වඩා වැඩි චිත්‍රපටියක් උනත් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාට එය තදින් නොදැනෙන්නට තරම් සියල්ල ප්‍රබලය්.

This gripping and strong plot swings between three main characters. An over protective mother who is also caring, a son who is suffering from a mental condition who is helpless and a care taker who is young and pretty trying to find a  meaning in what she does and maybe too involved in it. It is up to the viewer to judge what this people actually mean to each other and if their course of action is justifiable or not. And that is the toughest thing to do. I still keep on arguing with myself of what goes in the movie to clarify if they were true, correct or wrong. Very mind boggling presentation style which keeps the viewer displaced and helpless from point to point. And the over emphasized score at times put the horror mode on. A very good low budget psychological thriller.

තම දරුවා කෙරෙහි දැඩි දාරක ප්‍රේමයකින් යුතු මවක් , මානසික ආබාදයකින් පෙලෙන මැදි වියේ පුතෙක් සහ ඔහුව කුලියට රැක බලාගන්නා තරුණ සුරූපී කාන්තාවක් වටා ගෙතුණු උද්වේගකර සහ ප්‍රබල චිත්‍රපටියක් මේ. මේ කතාව කෙතරම් සිත සසල කරන එකක්ද කිවහොත් මා තවමත් මගේ මනසත් සමග මෙහි තිබෙන යම් යම් සිද්ධීන් ගැන ස්වයන් විවේචනයන් සහ තර්කයන් කරනවා. සමහර විට එය එතරම් තදින් සිතට දැනෙන්නේ චිත්‍රපටියේ කතාව ගලා යන අයුරු සහ එහි නිර්මානාත්මක සංස්කරණය නිසා විය යුතුය්. මේ වසරේ මා දුටු විශිෂ්ට තාරසය දනවන නාට්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක් කිවොත් නිවැරදි.

Vexille is another brainchild of Japanese animation geniousness. You know that Japs kick Hollywood’s butt hard when it comes to anime and Sci Fi. Vexille is flashy, sexy and futurastic! Set in an age where Japan is isolated from the rest of the world due to their experiments on human biogenetics a group of US secret soldiers enter the Japanese borders to find out the depths of their secrets the story is gripping and thrilling. The animation quality is sheer eye pleasing and when the action sequences hit the screen there is no return but to get involved and blast some mechs. For my amusement there is quite a bit of emotional value too in this than I anticipated. Wonderfully crafted animation and touching plot makes this movie a worthwhile to watch. There are few down points when it comes to facial expressions and voice acting but guess the bigger good doesn’t make you find them as real problems.

මිනිසුන් යොදාගෙන සිදු කරන ලබන කෘතිමය ජාන පරීක්ෂණ නිසා ජපානය මුළු ලොවෙන්ම වෙන්වී රහසිගතව සැඟවී ගිය සමයක ඇමෙරිකානු රහස් හමුධාවේ සොල්දාදුවන් කිහිපදෙනෙක් ජපානයට ඇතුළු වී එහි රහස් සෙවීම මේ කතාවේ සුළු හැඳින්වීමක් කීවොත් නිවැරදි. ඉතා විශිෂ්ට සජීවීකරනයන්ගෙන් යුත් Vexille  මුල සිට අගටම සීග්‍රයෙන් දිග හැරෙන විද්‍යාත්මක ක්‍රියාදාම anime චිත්‍රපටියක්. ජපන් anime කලාවට ලැදි බොහෝ දෙනෙකුටනම් මෙය අමතක නොවන අත්දැකීමක් වනු ඇති. මින් පෙර විශිෂ්ට ලෙස තිරගත වුනු Appleseed වැනි චිත්‍රපට හා සුළු සුළු සමානකම් දැක්වුවත් නැවුම් විද්‍යා ප්‍රභන්ධයක් ලෙස මෙය එක හෙලා ඉදිරිපත් කල හැකි.

It’s being not too long since I reviewed the first edition of ‘Expendables’. For sure the second installment has got bigger in cast, bigger in action, bigger in fire power and bigger in explosions but smaller in enthusiasm and plot power. But no one can really blame it because Expendables is all about bringing back the good old 80s action back in to Hollywood with the greatest action cast that can ever be. So to hell with plot and lets thrash some villain butt and blast some vehicles in to pieces while at it! I’m awe inspired by the sheer thrilling power of the first action sequence which maybe one of the best sequences in a recent movie. However from the first half to the second the movie slows down a bit. And the final battle is nothing but bullets and kicks flying. But as I said before who ever remember the good old action movies and being a fan of this awesome cast will not expect anything else. Plot holes forgiven but no bad guy is left untouched!

හොලිවුඩ් සිනමාවේ එතෙක් මෙතෙක් බිහිවූ දහසක් ක්‍රියාදාම නළුවන් අතරින් මෙතුවක් කල් රසික මනසේ නොමියෙන සටහන් තැබූ ක්‍රියාදාම නළුවන් කිහිප දෙනා සුක්ෂමව එකතු කරමින් කෙරුණු Expendables චිත්‍රපටියේ දෙවැනි පියවරය් මේ. පළමු චිත්‍රපටිය හා සංසන්දනය කරන විට එතරම්ම වෙනසක් නොමැති වුවත් ක්‍රියාදාම රසිකයින්ට මෙය මේ වසරේ දක්නට ලැබෙන ඉස්තරම්ම ක්‍රියාදාම ගොන්න රැගත් චිත්‍රපටිය විය හැකි. මුල සිට අග දක්වාම නොනැවතී දිවෙන ත්‍රාසය සහ විනෝදය මුසු වුනු කතා පුවතනම් කිව යුතු තරම් වැදගත් එකක් නොවේ. නමුත් මෙවැනි චිත්‍රපටියකට කතාවේ ඇති වැදගත්කම ඉතා සුළු බැවින් එය ප්‍රශ්නයක් බව නොහැඟේ. විශේෂයෙන්ම සුපුරි නළු රෝත්තේ සුසංයෝගය සහ මොහොතක් මොහොතක් පාසා පිපිරෙන ක්‍රියාදාම රැල ඔබව අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම පුටුවේ අලවා තබාවි.

Bernie is a very extraordinary true story about a good hearted popular funeral director who lived in a small town of Texas. And this story may seems not so excellent but predictable is a complete psychological experience surrounding this man who went to a bizarre extreme to fake friendship between him and a wealthy local widow even after her horrible death which he is responsible of. Jack Black delivers a striking excellent performance where I believe is his best that I can recall of. Proving he has the capacity to be more than just another comedian Jack brings this different character of Bernie in to true sense. The viewer is taken through a journey of doubt, belief and justice to reach at a point where some little insanity and crime is considerably accepted and forgiven while the obvious facts remain the same.

ඇමෙරිකාවේ ටෙක්සාස් ප්‍රාන්තයේ පුංචි නගරයක ජීවත් වූ  හිත හොඳ අවමංගල්‍යය අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයකු වන බර්නි සහ ධනවත් වැන්දබු කාන්තාවක් වටා ගෙතුණු සත්‍ය කතාවක් මේ චිත්‍රපටියට මුලික වෙනවා. මෙය විටෙක අදහා ගත නොහැකි තරම් වන සිදුවීම් රැසකින් යුක්ත කතා පුවතක්. බර්නිගේ චරිතය සහ එහි අඩංගු වන සියුම් මානසික අහු මුළු හොඳින් ස්පර්ශ කරන්නට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය සමත්. ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාව සාර්ථක චරිත ගවේෂණයකට මග සලසන අතර අවසානයේ යම් කිසි තීරණයක්ද ගැනීමේ අවස්තාව ලබා දෙනවා. ජැක් බ්ලැක් ඉතා අගනා රංගනයක යෙදෙන බව කිව යුතුමය්. බොහෝ විට ඔහුගෙන් දක්නට ලැබෙන විනෝදාත්මක චරිත වලට වඩා  බෙහෙවින් ඔබ්බට ගිය චරිතාංග ගුණයකින් යුතු රන්ගනයට ඔහුගේ ඇති හැකියාව මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තුලින් පෙනෙනවා.

This is a comedy that happens in the least possible place for a comedy to be, a funeral. And it pulls off brilliant making some of the rude possibilities in to classic humor. Starts off as a drama slow and steady it reaches the peak of laughter few times. But if the things happen in this plot happens at a funeral in real we may see several more deaths following. Funny!!

මළගෙයක් සහ එහි සිදුවන සිදුවීම් වටා ගෙතුණු හාත්සයෝත්පාදක චිත්‍රපටියක් මෙය. එහි සිදුවන සමහරක් දේවල් සැබෑ ජීවිතයේදී සිදු වුයේ නම් තවත් මළගෙවල් කිහිපයක් ඇතිවනු නොඅනුමානය්. අනෙකුත් විනෝදාත්මක චිත්‍රපටි වලට වඩා බෙහෙවින්ම වෙනස් කතා පුවතක් රැගත් මෙය හොඳ සිනා ගොන්නක එකතුවක්. මරණය සහ එහි කිසිදා දැක නැති  ප්‍රහසනය සාර්ථක අයුරින් විදහා දක්වන බවය් පෙනෙන්නේ.

What kind of movies can you usually expect from Jason Statham? Drama with good plot! Naah are you crazy? Action with good plot! Not quite but you’re close.  Awesome action movies with no plot!! Ding!!! You got that right. And here is the latest winner. SAFE is a movie made fun to watch with thumping action but if you take the plot serious you might die with malnutrition. It’s just kicks punches and shooting bullets but no brains. The action cinematography is somewhat one of a kind. Gives more of a first person shooter gamer perspective. And killing people is made easy like eating breakfast. And I honestly don’t know if you really wanna kill that much people to make a movie. The rest is just meh!

Jason Statham රංගන චිත්‍රපටි වලින් ඔබට ක්‍රියාදාම මිසක් වෙන යම් කිසිවක් බලාපොරොත්තු විය නොහැකි. ඔහු වර්තමානයේ සිටින විශිෂ්ට ක්‍රියාදාම නළුවන් ඉතා අතලොස්සෙන් එක් අයෙක් බව ක්‍රියාදාම චිත්‍රපටි නරඹන ඔබට රසහක් නොවේ. මේ චිත්‍රපටියද එවැනි හොඳ ක්‍රියාදාම වලින් හිස සිට දෙපතුල දක්වා හැඩ වුනු නමුත් කතාවක් වශයෙන් ඉතා අසාර්ථක එකක්. කෙසේ වෙතත් ක්‍රියාදාම ගොන්න විසින් ඔබව හොඳින් බලා ගනීවි.

What’s ordinary about this movie is romance blooming in two hearts and another breaks in the process. What’s extraordinary about Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is that the plot is actually bigger than just a plot made only for love. It’s made for humankind and vision of making the planet more habitable for a nation that is not so fortunate with nature’s gifts. In this large plot a love appears from nowhere unforeseen and unprepared. This has beautiful acting from both main leads and swift and timely flow of the story. What’s good about it is that everything in it is in just about right proportions. Not too much love nor not too much saving the planet nor fishing!

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by far is the most emotional and dramatic yet profoundly thrilling and action packed super hero movie I have ever seeing. It only seconds to its predecessors which are Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). This trilogy has being a fantastic journey of self discovery and heroism of a man behind a mask and it had not done justice to this character as this series in any other Bat Man movie made prior. This brings out the man in the bat suite to a new level and makes him more than just a high techy superhero but a man with pure compassion and determination of serving his purpose.

This latest and the final installment of the series is none other than breath taking from start to end. It runs a long 165 minutes but feels like a mere short period than that due to its gripping story telling. It starts with a bang with a one of a kind high flying mid air kidnap sequence and then gradually starts to reveal its real plot bringing the infamous Bruce Wayne back in to the arena.

With new gadgets and new characters out of which yet again this movie brings another powerful and brutal villain to light, Bane. Bane can be the hardcore bad to the bone villain the cinema has ever seeing in a superhero movie ‘if’ the Joker was not there before to garb that glorious crown. Yet Tom Hardy plays that character so well that you have no other option than to hate Bane and wish him a long vacation in hell.

Once again Christian Bale brings the magnificent Bruce Wayne and Bat Man characters to the screen with commendable support from the new addition Cat Woman played by Anne Hathaway. And when you first see the Bat Man entrance sequence with him flying low in his batpod under the darkness of a highway tunnel you know you are in for a real treat. From there it unfolds a fantastic plot and brings this majestic series in to a magnificent end. I do not wish to see any changes from where it is because this my friends is one hell of a movie and I was amongst those fans who cheered and clapped before they exit the cinema theater. Enough said!!

බැට්‌ මෑන් කතා මාලාවේ සහ සිනමාවේ එතෙක් මෙතෙක් දුටු විශිෂ්ටතම සුපිරි වීර චිත්‍රපටිය මෙය බව පැවසීම කිසි සේත්ම අතිශයෝක්තියක් නොවේ. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ආරම්භයේ සිට අති දැවැන්ත අවසානය දක්වා එක හුස්මට රස විඳිය හැකි රසවත් සිනමා අමුර්තයක්. මේ කතාව මින් පෙර තිරගත වුනු Batman Begins (2005) සහ The Dark Knight (2008) චිත්‍රපටි පෙලේ නවතම සහ අවසාන කතාන්ගයයි.

බැට්‌ මෑන් යනු හුදෙක් වෙස් මුහුණක් පැළඳගත් ධන කුවේරයකුට වඩා මිනිසත් කමින් සහ මානව දයාවෙන් පොහොසත් පුද්ගලයකු බව ඉතාම ප්‍රබල සහ සංවේදී අයුරින් පිළිබිඹු වෙනවා. ඔහු පටු ආත්මාර්ථකාමී ආශාවන්ගෙන් බැහැරව අනුන්ගේ යහපත සඳහාම නොයෙක් දුක් කම් කටොලු විඳිමින් පරාර්ථකාමී පරමාර්ථයන් සොයා යන දුලභ මිනිසෙක්. සුපිරි වීර කතාවක මෙවැනි ගැඹුරු චරිත ගවේෂණයක් අන් චිත්‍රපටියක මෙතෙක් දක්නට ලැබී නැහැ. එමෙන්ම නව අති ප්‍රබල සහ කෘර දුෂ්ට චරිතයක් වන Bane ගේ චරිතයද අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තවත් ඉහල තලයකට ඔසවනවා.

Christian Bale, Tom Hardy සහ තවත් නොයෙක් ශිල්පීන්ගේ විශිෂ්ට රංගනයෙන් රසවත් වූ මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තරම් බැට්‌ මෑන් චරිතයට සාධාරණයක් ඉෂ්ඨ කල තවත් චිත්‍රපටියක් නැවත බිහිවේද යන්නත් සැක සහිතය්. එය එතරම්ම විනෝදජනක, හැඟීම බරමුත් ත්‍රාසජනක චිත්‍රපට පෙළක්. මෙහි අවසානය සිතට යම් කිසි සියුම් වේදනාවක් ජනිත කලද ලොව සියලුම හොඳ දේවල් යම් දිනක අවසන් වන බව පසක් කරමින් මේ  චිත්‍රපටිය සමග බැට්‌ මෑන් අපට සමු දෙනවා. ඔබට ජය!
