Maybe this magic is only possible with French movies. Maybe the feeling is coupled with wonderful language, people and landscapes. Whatever it is love with a taste of France is not like anywhere else. It blossoms. But Delicacy is not all gorgeous with love and its beauty. It has deep emotional distress and struggle to recover and survive after a love that cannot be forgotten. It will make you realize but hardly understand the emotions of the main character. But for sure it will introduce you to some wonderful people. People, who care, love and be there under the storm. Delicacy is not the average romantic comedy or the heard headed drama. It plays in a middle ground. And yes it is soft, smooth and pretty.

Delicacy සුන්දර ප්‍රංශ චිත්‍රපටියක්. එය එක හෙලාම බොළඳ ප්‍රේම කතාවක් හෝ ගැඹුරු ආත්ම ගවේෂණයක් නොවේ. එය අන්තනෝමතික නොවූ මධ්‍යස්ත චිත්‍රපටි සම්ප්‍රදායට අයත්. නමුත් බොහෝ සෙයින් හදවතට දැනෙන පෙම් කතාවක්. මෙතුලින් ඔබට විශේෂ චරිත ගොන්නක් මුණ ගැසේවි. සැපේදී මෙන්ම දුකෙදීද ළඟ සිටින නමුත් පෙනුමෙන් මනුස්සකම මැනිය නොහැකි චරිත. ඒ චරිත ඔබට බොහෝ කලක් මතක තියේවි. ඒ මේ චිත්‍රපටියෙහි ඇති ලස්සන කතාව හෝ රඟපෑම් නිසාම නොවේ. එය මනුස්සකම නිසාය්. ඔබට ප්‍රධාන චරිතයේ ජීවත් වන්නටද අවකාශ හිමි වේවි. නමුත් අයව මුළුමුනින්ම හඳුනාගන්න ඔබට හැකි වන්නේ නැහැ. එත් ඒ ගුප්ත බව ඇතුලත ඇති සුන්දරකම ඔබට පෙනේවි.

Seldom has the world come to see movies about love and spirituality. And spirituality and Buddhism is an even rare combination. This overwhelmingly deep tale of spirituality and Buddhism is a rare gem of a movie that the world must have seeing so far. It takes place in the vastly remote breathtaking landscapes of India right under the nose of Himalayas and the setting leaves the viewer in an inescapable trance.  The mood of the movie is almost equal to a deep meditation. It is very slow at most points but detailed to fit the plot. The plot starts with immense serenity and gradually moves a level or two up on the notch while keeping the viewer tightly bound by the changing flow. And after mind boggling two and half hours it returns to its roots so perfectly that the journey of the main character would seem like your own.  Beautiful cinematography, background score and subtle sound mixing are equal value additions to the plot. If you're a Buddhist what you feel through this movie can be vast and deep because you are familiar with the concept which the whole plot is built upon. Even you're not one you cannot escape what it has to offer.

Samsara ඒ චිත්‍රපටි කිහිපය අතුරින්ද වඩා කැපී පෙනෙන එකකි. උතුරු ඉන්දියාවේ හිමාල කන්ද පාමුල පන්සලක බවුන් වඩන තරුණ හිමි නමක් වටාය් මේ ප්‍රබල කතාන්දරය ගෙතෙන්නෙ. එතුමන් වසර තුනක් තනිව එක දිගට දුෂ්කර භාවනාවක යෙදී නැවතත් තම පන්සලට වැඩමවීම සහ එතැන් පටන් එතුමන්ට තම ක්ලේශයන් සහ ආශාවන් දමනය කරගැනීමට නොහැකි වීම මේ කතාවේ මුලාශ්‍රයය්. මිනිසා තම සිතෙහි ඇතිවන ආශාවන්ට ලොල් වීම සහ ඒවායින් මුසපත් වී සසර ගමන දිගු කරගැනීම ඉතා සරල එහෙත් ප්‍රබල ලෙසින් මේ චිත්‍රපටියෙහි දැක්වෙනවා. හිමාල කඳු පාමුල විශාල සුන්දර භුමි තල සහ ගැමි ජීවිත මැදින් දිවෙන මේ කතාව ඇත්තෙන්ම එක්තරා භාවනාවක්. එය බොහෝ සෙයින් මන්දගාමී වුවද ඉන් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාව දමනය කර සන්සුන් කරනවා. එතැන් පටන් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාව මොහොතින් මොහොත ඉදිරියට ගෙන යන්නේ හිමි නමගේ ජීවිත අත් දැකීම් තමන්ගේම අත් දැකීම් ලෙසින් දැනෙන්නට සලස්වමින්. Samsara ඉතාමත්ම විශිෂ්ට ඝනයේ සිනමා කෘතියක්. ඔබ බවුධයෙක් නම් එහි හරය සැනින් ඔබට ග්‍රහණය වේවි. එසේ නොවුනත් එයින් පෙන්වන යතාර්ථයෙන් ගැලවීමට ඔබට නැහැකිය.

I honestly have no idea why people do not speak or seems to know of this movie. It is just plain wonderful. Maybe most of you will think it’s a comedy just for the appearance of Steve Carrel in it but trust me it’s much more than a lame belly tickle. There is more meaning to life in this movie than many movies that boasts of art and drama but turns out to be empty vessels. This got the most alarming plot and one fine romance that a movie can offer. It starts like some dark and boring tale of emptiness but soon grows to be full and cheerful. There is wonderful heartwarming performance from Keira Knightly with that awesome big smile that lit up the plot like a Christmas tree. And a timely and brilliant ending to a tale mixed with love with an equally touching sound track. The music will set you free.

මේ ගෙවෙන්නේ පෘතුවියේ අවසන් සති කිහිපයය්. විශාල විනාසකාරි උල්කාපාතයක් පොලොව දෙසට පැමිණෙන බව දන්නා සියල්ලෝම තම තමන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව සලසාගැනීමට සහ තමන්ගේ ආදරනියන් සමග ගත කිරීමට පෙළඹෙති. කෙසේ වෙතත් මේ ව්‍යසනයෙන් ගැලවීමට කිසිවෙකුට නොහැකි බව රහසක් නොවේ. මේ අතරතුර අහඹු ලෙස මුණ ගැසෙන යුවලක් තමන්ගේ ආදරනියන් සොයා නගරයෙන් පිට වී යෙදෙන ගමනක් මේ චිත්‍රපටියට මුලික තේමාව සපයනවා. බැලු බැල්මට බියකරු කතාවක් උවත් මෙය එයට හාත්පසින්ම වෙනස් ස්වරුපයකිනුය් දිග හැරෙන්නේ. තමන්ගේ ජීවිතය ඉතාම කෙටි බවත් එනිසා තම අවසානය කාලය සැනසිල්ලේ සහ සාමයෙන් ගත කිරීම යුතු බවත් මුළු චිත්‍රපටිය පුරා යටින් දිවෙන හැඟීම වනවා. මිනිසා සහ මනුස්සකම ගැන මෙන්ම ප්‍රේමයේ ඇති සුන්දර ආනුභාවයද මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ ඉතාමත්ම හොඳින් පිළිබිඹු වෙනවා. සුන්දර රංගනයෙන්ද කන්කළු සංගීතයෙන්ද පිරිපුන් මෙය විශේෂ සිනමා කෘතියක්.

I try my best not to give out any spoilers when I write my reviews. In most cases I succeed but in an extraordinary case like this one I might fail. Because this movie is so good that you will not know what you’re experiencing or what you have to believe. Or maybe you were right all along or you have being fooled ruthlessly. But whatever it is its just one awesome movie experience. It’s dramatic and bit slow but builds a wonderful story line with its narrative mixed with a well written script. Every moment just adds plain value to the plot and right in to the end you will be carried away. There are wonderful hints and tips in the dialogues that you might want to remember when everything ends just to keep the mind from wondering about too much. It after all is a very straight forward plot and no mysteries. Completed with good acting, creative mood and heartfelt approach, this is one heck of a movie.

This is one of those movies which you cannot watch with your family ‘if’ you want your kids to respect elders and behave at school! It’s whacking funny and filled with filth and perverse vocabulary end to end. But it has an interesting plot going on in the middle of all that R rated material. Up to some extent it’s a really vulgar porn movie where anything can happen related to sex. Only difference is that the real action and the skin show are missing. But I cannot honestly say that Sandler delivers what he is supposed to. For some reason he has degraded himself from being a great comedian to an average performer from the line of movies he appeared in the recent past. This adds to the same list and nothing more. It’s good for some dirty laughs only.

There are so many things that happen in this masterpiece which could be laughed at but deep within all of them are striking and emotional to a level which many movies does not even come close. It runs a long 133 minutes but delivers its every bit effectively. It dwells on human emotion that captivated by emotions it self and the desire to pull through and get out and be free. Yet for some reason in a confined environment where emotions are not treated for their quality a story takes place out of the ordinary. Jack Nicholson delivers a performance of a lifetime alongside many unique and commendable performances. He portrays s changing moods of a character r right from a cheerful and happy start to a angry depressed ending. Its so emotional and powerful that you might even feel insane to like him that much. And the sheer quality of the movie hangs on him and the slow yet grippingly proceeding story. The whole plot works so smooth yet keeps that time bomb of a mind ticking to its explosion any minute.

When I wanted to watch this all I expected was to see some good action and animation and that’s what exactly it delivered. Other than that there is no unique plot, acting nor drama here. It’s just another big action vampire flick that won’t stay in your mind. ‘Maybe’ if I watched this on 3D I would have liked it a wee bit better.

No two words this flick is a classic. It comes from an age where art was art and movies were movies way before the CG gurus took over Hollywood. It has an interesting plot, gripping flow and heroic ending. And most of all it has punchy Clint Eastwood with that “Let the world  shout what fuck I care” attitude. It’s witty and equally thrilling with a touch of RAW action and mood. And this is how police work was done before the age of cell phones and computer. Couldn’t have being better for a movie which is 41 years old.

ක්ලින්ට් ඉස්ට්වුඩ්ගේ දක්ෂ රංගනය සහ 70 දශකයේ සුන්දර සිනමා රසයෙන් මොනවට හැඩ වූ ත්‍රාසජනක චිත්‍රපටි පෙළක පළමුවැන්න Dirty Harry. හොලිවුඩය සංකීර්ණ පරිගණය විජාවක් බවට පත්වන්න කලකට ඉහත නිෂ්පාදනය වූ මෙහි තිබෙන අමු රසය නිසාම එය මොහොතින් මොහොත රස විඳීම සුන්දර වනවා. සැන් ෆ්රැන්සිස්කෝ නුවර පොලිසියට හිස රදයක් වන sniper තුවක්කු කරුවෙකු කොටු කරගැනීම සඳහා පොලිසිය එලන දැල් සහ එයින් ගැලවීමට අපරාධකරු විසින් කරන ක්‍රියා වටාය් කතාව දිවෙන්නේ. අනන් මනං වලින් තොරව මුළු මුනින්ම මුලික තේමාව වටා පමණක් ගොඩ නැගෙන කතාව මොහොතක්වත් එයින් බැහැර නොවේ. සරල නමුත් ප්‍රබල කැමරාකරණය සහ පසුබිම් සංගීතයද සිත් ගන්නා සුලුය්.

Though the main story largely doesn’t have a reason to grab the viewer, Magic Mike has a very different background plot to present. This movie gives you insight to the male strip dancing business. Though I have no reason to think that what’s shown is exactly how it goes down in real but that unique approach sure keeps the viewer wondering of a different lifestyle and its realism. Amongst that mood created by lust and money mixed vibrant set with dancing men on it, a story unfolds surrounding a middle aged man who wants to start up a new life. The plot is losely based on experiences of Tatum who was a 19 year old stripper in Tampa Florida. Not to mention Tatum kinda brings back his Step Up memories with all that bone breaking dance moves and the ladies have hell of a lot of reasons to love this flick. Can’t say the same about men unless they want to be on that stage!

Channing Tatum ගේ ප්‍රතිබාපිරි නර්තන දායකත්වයද ඇගයිය යුතුය්. එමෙන්ම මේ කතාව Tatum ගේ ජීවිතයේ යම් යම් සත්‍ය සිදුවීම්ද ඇතුලත් වීම විශේෂ කරුණක්. ඔහු වයස 19 දී සත්‍ය වශයෙන්ම අඩ නිරුවත් පිරිමි නර්තන ශිපියෙකු වශයෙන් සිටි බව පැවසෙනවා.

There are many movies made based on war and soldiers. Most of them are dedicated to show the bravery of the ones involved and how they cope up with their battle working as a team. But Platoon is different for many reasons. It shows the ugliness of the war coupled with the real bitterness that soldiers go through. Not only hardships that comes from outside but the battles within. It shows how the different individuals try to cope up each other just to stay alive but become enemies in the process. Platoon is violent and gruesome. The details are well made and it has a good production quality considering the time of its making. And it leaves you without being too judgmental about any of the characters or the war. It just shows you some shocking moments of a soldier’s year on the battlefield and let you to decide who’s wrong and who’s not.

යුධ තේමාවන් රැගත් බොහෝ චිත්‍රපට වල යටි අරමුණ වන්නේ සෙබලා සහ ඔහුගේ වීරත්වය සහ ඔවුන්ගේ සාමුහික ප්‍රයත්නයන් උලුප්පා පෙන්වීම. නමුත් Platoon එයට සැබවින්ම වෙනස් තේමාවක් රැගත් යුධ චිත්‍රපටියක්. යුධයේ ඇති අති බිහිසුණු බව සහ සෙබලා විසින් යුධ බිමේදී මුහුණ දෙන බියකරු එමෙන්ම සිත් සසල කරවන සිදුවීම් මෙහි තිබෙනවා. එමෙන්ම එකිනෙකාට වෙනස් මිනිසුන් තමන්ගේ වෙනස් කම් මැද උවත් කණ්ඩායමක් සේ ක්‍රියා කලත් ඒ යටින් දිවෙන ඔවු නොවුන් අතර පවතින ගැටුම් ද මෙහි  පෙන්වනවා. එමෙන්ම මානුෂිකත්වය අමතකවී නොමිනිසුන් බවට පත්වන සෙබළුන් විසින් කෙරෙන අපරාධ වලින්ද මෙහි අඩුවක් නැහැ. මේ සියල්ල තුලින් Platoon ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා මධ්‍යස්ත ස්ථානයක තබාගෙන ඔහුට හොඳ නරක තීරණය කිරීම අවකාශ සලසනවා. අසුව දශකයේ බිහිවූ චිත්‍රපටියක් උවද උසස් නිෂ්පාදන වටිනාකමක් මෙහි ඇත.

There was once Casper who was a friendly ghost. And now here comes Barnabas Collins the good hearted but a blood sucking vampire.  What’s important is he is not who he is by choice but by curse. Johnny Depp wittingly and charmingly breathes life to this hideous character which is one strong point for the flick. And then the other element such as attention to detail, dark cinematography and the fun in the script gladly follows. Though it’s not a horror by all means it still can give you a scare or two when you least expect it. But it will put a smile on your ugly face most of the time! And wait till you see the sex scene.

සාපයක් නිසා වැම්පයර් වරයෙක් බවට පත් වන ධනවත් බාර්ණබස් කොලින්ස් වසර 200 කට පසු මිනි පෙට්ටියෙන් එලියට එන විට ඔහු දැන සිටි ලෝකය බොහෝ සෙයින් වෙන වී ගොස්. නමුත් ඔහුගේ පැරණි වලව්ව සහ එහි ජීවත්වන ඔහුගේ නෑදෑයින් සොයා ගන්නට ඔහුට වැඩි වෙලාවක් ගත වන්නේ නැහැ. විටින් විට තරමක් භයන්කාර වුවද විනෝදාත්මක රංගනයන් සහ තේමාවකින් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය හැඩ වෙනවා. ජොනි ඩෙප්ගේ අද්විතීය රංගන දායකත්වයෙන් තවත් විශේෂ වන Dark Shadows හොඳ නිෂ්පාදන වටිනාකමකින් යුතු එකක්. ත්‍රාසය, කුතුහලය සහ විනෝදය එකට කැටි කරගත් චිත්‍රපටියක්යය් කීම වඩාත් නිවැරදි.

There are absolutely no two words that this movie is one of the most epic visual experiences you can have up to date from an animation. It’s not just animation but a hybrid of CG and 3d modeling mixed to make a stunning eye pleaser from start to the very end. And the brilliant score becomes one with the visual and puts the viewer in to mesmerizing trance. The soundtrack is just awe perfect and grips the viewer by the depths of the ear canal. Yet the same cannot be told about the story. It has being tested before and has a bit of vast unexplored and unexplained territories. But with the sheer magic unfolding with the stunning visuals and the music the plot seems to be tagging along just fine. Animation and Sci Fi lovers will dig this! And this is going in to my personal favorites collection.

Sky Blue මොහොතක් මොහොතක් පාසා ඔබ මවිත කිරීමට තරම් සුන්දර ජවනිකා දහස් ගණනකින් හෙබි, ඔබට දැකීමට ලැබෙන විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ සජීවීකරණ චිත්‍රපටි අතර විශිෂ්ටතම ස්ථානයක මතකයේ රැඳෙන එකක් වනු ඇත. කන්කළු සහ අසන්නාගේ මනසේ ගැඹුරු ස්ථානයන් පවා ස්පර්ශ කිරිමත සමත් පසු බිම් සන්ගීතයන්ගෙන්ද මේ චිත්‍රපටිය පිරි තිබෙනවා. එලෙස මන බඳිනා දර්ශන සහ ඒ හා උරෙන් උර මිත්‍ර වුනු සංගීතයද එක්වූ කල මේ දෙස විමතියෙන් බලා සිටීම හැරෙන්නට වෙනත් කිසිවක් කිරීමට ඔබට අමතක වන්නටද පුළුවන්. කෙසේ වෙතත් චිත්‍රපටියේ කතා වස්තුව ගැන එසේ වර්ණනාවන් කිරිමට අපහසුය්. මින් පෙර අත් විඳ පුරුදු තේමාවකි එහි ඇත්තේ. නමුත් මේ සියල්ල එක් කොට ගත් කල Sky Blue සජීවිකරණ චිත්‍රපටි ප්‍රිය කරන ඔබට දිව්‍යමය ආහාරයක්.

The straight fact is that this movie is not about the underworld or the mafia. It’s about the world on top that runs the underworld. The world on top that looks so pure and white yet stinks so deep down to the guts of the belly of corruption. The plot is about a city engulfed in its self destruction with the assistance of dirty politics and system of protection, and one man who strive to swim upstream. Be aware this one is brutal. It’s a human slaughterhouse and it has no respect or regret to anyone or anything. The story is fast phased and puts several characters in control moment to moment. Whoever it will be only very few get out alive. For being a crime thriller this one is one hell of a ride that actually makes sense than just stupid bullet exchanges.  With good acting, sound cinematography and killer editing this should not be missed by the hardcore crime movie lovers. The plot may resemble a wee bit of Raid Redemption but… this one fails in action and wins big in plot. Do not even compare!

දුෂිත දේශපාලකයින් සහ පොලිස් නිලධාරින් විසින් හරි හරියට කෙලෙසු නගරයක උඩුගන් බලා පිහිනීමට තැත් කරන එක් නිලධාරියෙකු වටා ගෙතෙන ත්‍රාසය පිරි නමුත් ගැඹුරු චිත්‍රපටියක් මෙය. මුල සිට අගටම දුෂණ, වංචා සහ දරුණු අපරාධ මැදින් දිවෙන එය බොහෝ විට ඉතා බිහිසුණු දර්ශන වලින් යුක්තය්. ප්‍රවේශම්වන්න මෙය තාත්වික බැවින් යුතු එකක්. හුදෙක් ත්‍රාසය සහ ක්‍රියාදාම මත පමණක් යැපෙන චිත්‍රපටි බිහිවන කලෙක මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ගෙන එන කතා පුවතේ තිබෙන ගැඹුර සහ උද්වේගකර භාවය නිසා එය ඇත්තෙන්ම විශේෂ වනවා. සමාජයේ අරටුවේ පටන් ගැවසී එය ඇතුලතින් විනාශකරමින් හුදෙක් තම ආත්මාර්ථකාමී ඉලක්කයන් සපුරාගැනීම සඳහා කිසිවෙක් හෝ කිසිවක් මායිම් නොකර, බලයෙන් සහ ධනයෙන් අන්ධ වුනු මෙවැනි චරිත ඔබ මින් පෙරත් දැක ඇති. නමුත් මේ චරිත කිහිපය දෙසත් හොඳින් බලන්න. මක් නිසාද ඔවුන්ගේ ආයු කාලය බොහෝ කෙටි නිසාය. අවි ගත්තෝ අවියෙන්ම නසිත්!

There are very good reasons to love or to hate this movie. It all depends on what you expect and how prepared you are to accept the plot and it’s somewhat colossus ‘betrayal’ with the ending twist. However Red Lights is a one of a kind dramatic mystery experience that puts the viewer in a trance. This could be the most entertaining thriller I have seeing in recent times depending on how the ending effects. It may not be the same to you as it was for me. But honestly I expected something very different and it didn’t exactly deliver what I believed in. But the plot and its evolvement is nothing but thoroughly interesting and entertaining. Busting myth after myth this thriller builds a strong scientific case against many eerie paranormal phenomenon’s the man blindly believes in. Strikingly powerful performance by Sigourney Weaver puts the whole movie on a different level. I’d definitely watch it again though I know the twists not because I didn’t get them but just because I’m a curious cat. As I said at the beginning love it or hate it!

මළවුන් සමග කතා කිරීම, භූතයින් සහ හොල්මන්, අනුන්ගේ මනස් කියවීම සහ ප්‍රාතිහාර්යයෙන් ලෙඩ සුව කිරීම ගැන ඔබ මෙතෙක් ඇති කරගත් සංජානනයන් කීතු කීතු වලට ඉරා පුළුස්සා දමන්නට තරම් ප්‍රබල කතාවක් මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ ඇතුලත්. නමුත් එය ඔබට බලපාන අයුරු ඔබේ විශ්වාසයන්, අත්දැකීම් සහ ආකල්පයන් මත රැඳෙන බැවින් ඔබ මේ චිත්‍රපටියට කැමති වීමට හෝ එයට ක්‍රෝධ කිරීමට පෙළඹේවි. මා මෑත කාලයේදී දුටු ඉතාමත්ම කුතුහලය දනවන චිත්‍රපටිය මෙය යයි කීම නිවැරදි. නමුත් එහි අවසානය මා කොහෙත්ම අනුමත කරන්නේ නැහැ. එය ඉතාමත්ම මතබේදාත්මක එකක් වන අතර මුළු චිත්‍රපටිය පුරා ඔබ විසින් එක් කරගත් යම් යම් ඇදහිලි සහ විස්වාස සුනු විසුනු වෙනු ඇති. නමුත් මා පෙර කීවක් මෙන් එයට කැමති වීම හෝ ක්‍රෝධ කිරීමට අබට අයිතියක් ඇත.
