Broken City (2012)

I have no idea how politically correct is the plot or the circumstances but there is a certain catchiness to it. But that itself is not good enough. Neither Mark nor Russell delivers great performances here but maybe having them both is the reason why would anyone should watch this. There are plenty of political and crime thrillers like this being made already and this is not a gem among them either. The worst case is that it seems all predictable. And you can get most of it right way before it comes.

Any Day Now (2012)

Fictional yet seems very natural and true this movie comes with a really touching piece of story. It is rich in emotional department that can put the fragile viewer in tear jerking mood surprisingly. Starting off with a look of late 70s hip culture it positively and strongly grows in to a drama about parenthood and love. And how common it may sounds it still turns out to be playing on an untouched arena. Firmly recommend for viewers who can digest the bitter realities of life than ignoring them.

Amelie (2001) French

This is a very light hearted and witty piece of movie that can reverse bad moods in a jiffy. The real wonder is in the style of storytelling and the cinematography. For a good deal of time the story doesn’t fall in to the track and it seems like many random events only takes place. Once the track is set and the viewer finds it it’s a joy ride. Watched it, laughed with it and liked it.

The Rear Window (1954)

Peeping into other people’s homes is not ethical. Yet if you’re lucky you might unravel a hideous crime. But if you do so are you really lucky? Find out by watching this fine drama thriller which is another clever Hitchcock creation back from 1954. The script has lot to say and the viewer will witness many behaviors of men and woman trying to justify a cause which they have a bit of guilt in their minds. Some say curiosity killed the cat. But not quite!

Womb (2010)

Very thought provokingly could be the most controversial science fiction which I have witnessed up to date. More than being a sci fi it is a deep exploration of human bonds, love and sacrifice mixed in a story with a somewhat bizarre twist and climax. I’m sure this movie would be understood, explained and remembered by many in different ways. And it’s definitely going in my all time favorites collection for all of the brilliant cinematography, acting and dead silence where it matters.

Hitchcock (2012)

Never thought that I’d see Hitchcock alive!! Well this is not the original but a very fine version of it. Anthony Hopkins portrays him splendidly while all the wonderful history of making of Psycho unrevealed. This is a movie about a movie and people who likes, loves and makes them. All of you who love good movies should not miss it. And if you have not seeing much of Hitchcock’s own creations it’s high time you do so.
