Hotel Transylvania (2012)

2012 has seeing enough of animations coming from big studios about monsters. And this is the final of it. I must say it does have a really cool plot. Very creative and very well pulled off. And the humor is fantastic.

 

But Im not nearly satisfied about the animation. There is lot going in this but nothing seems to be like unique or out of the ordinary. The bottom line is it’s too many characters jumbled in to one and its not good as when Shrek did it. But all in all its a fun watch. Blah Bla Blah Blaaahhh

 

2012 වසර අමනුෂ්‍යයින් ගැන කියැවුණු විනෝදාත්මක සජීවිකරණ චිතපරි වලින් ගහන එකක්. මේ එහි අවසාන එකයි. මෙහි එන කතාවනම් ඉතා විනෝදජනක එක බව කිව යුතුයි. එය අද්විතීය එකක් වන අතර හොඳින් නිෂ්පාදනය වී තිබෙනවා. එමෙන්ම මේ ඇති තරම් හාස්‍යයද ගැබ් වී තිබෙනවා.

 

නමුත් පරිගණක සජීවිකරණය ඇතිනම් මා හට එතරම්ම සතුටක් දැනෙන්නේ නැහැ. මින් පෙර දැක පුරුදු ගතියක් සහ සිනමා ලොවට නැවුම් යමක් ඒ ඇති එක වුනු වගක් නොදැනෙය්. කොටින්ම කිවහොත් විශාල චරිත ගොඩක් එකට එක් කොට නිපදවුනත් ශ්‍රෙක් තරම් අපුරුවට එය කිරීමට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය අපොහොසත් බවයි මගේ හැඟීම. ඒ කෙසේ වෙතත් ඉතා විනෝදජනක චිත්‍රපටි අත්දැකීමක්.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

How do you know that you really love someone? Is that a matter of understanding the same feelings from the other party or is it the moment where you come to a point where you can tolerate them or anything that they do? Maybe love is all about living someone else s life and giving second priority to your own. Or maybe a mix of every thing that I mentioned earlier. But what ever it is When Harry Met Sally both of them found nothing in common to bound them for a life time. But it changed. And it did after a very very long time later.  

 

This is a funny and gripping romantic comedy. And probably the best script in a romantic comedy that you can think of. There are some dialogues that you might need to recall and then re understand and re smile over them. Coming with a fantastic chemistry between the main casts and very catchy performance this movie has the potential to go down as a classic in the movie history.

 

ඔබ යමෙකුට සැබවින්ම ආදරය කරන්න බව දන්නේ කෙසේද? ඔවුන්ගෙන් ඔබට ඒ හා සමාන ආදරයක් ලැබෙන බව දැනීමෙන්ද එසේත් නැත්නම් ඔවුන් කරන කියන සියලුදේම ඉවසීමේ හැකියාව ඔබට ලැබුණු බව දැනීමෙන්ද?සමහර විට ආදරය යනු වෙන අයෙකුගේ ජීවිතය තුල ජීවත්වීම සහ තමන්ගේම ජීවිතයට දෙවැනි තැන ලබාදීමද? එසේත් නැත්නම් ආදරය යනු මේ සියල්ලේම එකතුවක්ද විය හැකි. ඒ කෙසේ වුවත් හැරී සහ සැලි මුලින්ම මුණගැසුණු දවසෙනම් ඔවුනට ජීවිතයක් එකට ගත කිරීමට තරම් කිසිදු බැඳීමක් ඇති නොවෙයි. එලෙසෙ බැඳීමක් ඇතිවන්නේ බොහෝ කල් ගතවීමෙන් පසුවයි.

 

මෙය හාස්‍යය පිරි ප්‍රේම කතාවක්. සමහරවිට හොඳම පිටපතක් සහිත ප්‍රේම චිත්‍රපටියක් විය හැකි. මෙහි එන සමහරක් දෙබස් නැවත නැවතත් මෙනෙහි කරමින් ඒවා රස විඳීමට සහ සිනහවීමට හැකි තරම් සුන්දර ඒවායි. හොඳින් ගැලපෙන නළු දෙපලකින් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ දක්ෂ රංගනයෙන් හැඩ වෙන මේ චිත්‍රපටිය වැඩි කල් නොගොස්ම අතීතයේ බිහිවූ අගනා පැරණි චිත්‍රපටියක් ලෙස සැලකීමේ ලක්ෂණ වලින් හෙබියි.

Sleep Walk With Me (2012)

This mellow drama and comedy speaks of person who finds everything about life in a different perspective. He being a dreamer of becoming a great standup comedian and a sleep walker at night has many challenges to overcome to get to live a life which many of us would call normal. So to speak this movie is a very normal one too. It has no twists, unexplained moments or thrills. It just flows smoothly till it ends at one point of the main characters life. And for sure it is another beginning for him and the viewer is left to gasp whatever values possible before moving on.

 

 

මේ චිත්‍රපටිය හාස්‍යය මුසු වුනු මන්දගාමී සහ මෘදු නාට්‍යම එකක්. එහි මුලික චරිතය යම් දිනක විනෝදාත්මක කතා කරුවෙකු වීමට සිහින දකින්නෙක් වන අතර රාත්‍රියේදී සිහිනෙන් ඇවිදීමේ මානසික රෝගයකට ලක් වුනු අයෙක්. ඔහු විසින් ජීවිතය දකින්නේ බොහෝ වෙනස් අයුරකින් වන අතර යම් දිනක අප විසින් හඳුන්වනු ලබන සාමාන්‍යය ජීවිතයකට උරුම කීම සඳහා ඔහු විසින් ජය ගත යුතු අභියෝග බොහොමයකි. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඉතා සරල එකකි. එහි විසඳිය නොහැකි අභිරහස් හෝ ත්‍රාසජනක සිදුවීම් නැත. එහි ඇත්තේ සුමුදු ගලායාමක් වන අතර ප්‍රධාන චරිතයේ යම් කිසි අවස්ථාවකදී එය නිමවෙයි. ඒ අවසානය ඔහුගේ ජීවිතයේ තවත් ආරම්බහයක් පමණක් වන අතර ප්‍රේක්ෂකයින් වන අපට ඉතුරු වන්නේ ඔහුගේ කෙටි ජීවිත කොටසක අත්දැකීම් ගොන්නයි.

3-Iron (South Korea/Korean) (2004)

This probably is one of the most silent movies that speaks beyond imaginable words. And it is another mind boggling piece of artistic cinema coming with Ki-Duk Kim’s visionary directing. The grip that this movie has on the viewer from start to end is quite powerful. And just like every Ki-Duk Kim movie it leaves with questions than answers.

 

The plot in 3-Iron is is one of the most unique once that I have witnessed. It is kind of tragic yet blissfully out of this world in a way. The 2 main charactors in the movie has nothing to say to each other but somewhere deep within has the strongest bond. They are mischievous but have great respect to each other and the gratitude towards their lifestyle. And the whole movie is bound with determination and soul searching that ultimately pays off. But as viewers we are left to decide the meaning of the things we witness. "It's hard to tell that the world we live in is either a reality or a dream." The script says.

 

සමහරක් විට මෙය ඉතාමත්ම නිශ්ශබ්ද චිත්‍රපටි වලින් වඩාත්ම වැරෙන් කතාකරන එකක් විය හැකි. එමෙන්ම එය  කොරියානු ජාතික මහා සිනමාකරු කි ඩුක් කිම් විසින් අධ්‍යක්ෂණය කෙරුණු තවත් මනස කළඹන සුළු සිනමා කෘතියක්. මෙය මුල සිට අගටම ශක්තිමත් ලෙස ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා ග්‍රහණය කර ගනියි. එසේම බොහොමයක්ම කි ඩුක් කිම් චිත්‍රපටි මෙන්ම මෙයත් අවසානයේදී උත්තර වලට වටා ප්‍රශ්න රැසක් ඉතුරු කරමිනුයි නිමාවට පත් වන්නේ.

 

මෙහි එන කතාව මා විසින් අත් දකින ලද ඉතාමත්ම අසමසම එකකි. ජීවත්වීමට හරි හමන් තැනක් නොමැති තරුණයෙක් අනුන්ගේ ගෙවල් වලට හොරෙන් ඇතුළුවී එහි කල් ගත කරණ අතර එක නිවසකදී ඔහුට හමුවන තරුණියක් සහ ඔහු අතර යම් කිසි බැඳීමක් ඇති වෙයි. මේ බැඳීම නිසා ඔහුගේ පුරුදු දුරු වෙනවා වෙනුවට ඔහු තවත් එයටම ඇබ්බැහි වෙයි.  

 

මේ කතාව එක අතෙකින් ඛේදාන්තයක් වන අතර තවත් අතෙකින් බෙහෙවින් සුන්දර එකකි. මෙහි එන ප්‍රධාන නළු දෙපලහට ඔවුනොවුන්ටන කීමට කිසිම දෙයක් නැති වුවත් ඔවුන්ගේ අභ්‍යන්තරයේ ඇති ගැලපීම සහ බැඳීම අතිශය ප්‍රබලය. ඔවුන් බොහෝ විට සල්ලාල ජීවිතයකට කැමති බවක් පෙනුනද ඔවුනට ජීවිතය සම්බන්ධව දැඩි දයාවක් සහ ගවුරවයක් ඇති බවක් පෙනේ. එමෙන්ම මේ මුළු කතාවම අදිෂ්ටානය සහ ආත්ම ගවේෂණය හා බැඳෙන එකකි. නමුත් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයින් ලෙස අපට මෙහි සිදුවන දේවල් පිලිබඳ ස්ව නිගනමයකට ඒමට සිදු වෙයි. පිටපත කියන පරිදි “ මෙලොව සිදු වන දේවල් සැබෑවකද නැත්නම් සිහිනයක්ද කියා කීමට අපහසු වෙයි”

Vertigo (1958)

Watching a good psychological thriller and digesting it is a challenge. Mostly because when you deep dive in to the movie and they start to grow on you. And for a minute you feel like you’re a victim of some vicious joke. And Hitchcock is the best director who did it so well. And after years and years still his movies makes ripples everywhere. And Vertigo is one of those movies.

 

This plot is a fairly simple one. But what’s not so simple is the way it’s presented. Right from the start there are long conversations, deep character information’s helps to built thrill step by step.  And not every piece of information is important but the director makes it a point that everything matters. And when the climax hits everything start to become clear and it is done so well and professionally. This is great film making and acting from the bygone era.

 

හොඳ මනෝමය ත්‍රාසජනක චිත්‍රපටියක් නැරඹීම සහ එය ග්‍රහණය කර ගැනීම බැරෑරුම් කර්තව්‍යකි. එය එසේ වන්නේ තරමක් දුරක එම කතාව තුලට කිමිදීමේදී එය ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා තුල වර්ධනය වන හෙයිනි. නමුත් අවසානයේදී ඔබට සිතෙන්නේ ඔබ ඉතාමත් නපුරු විහිළුවකට පාත්‍රවුණු අයෙකු ලෙසිනි. හිච්කොක් තරම් මෙය හොඳින් කල අයෙකු තවත් නොමැති තරම්. එනිසාමයි දශක ගනානාවකට පසුවත් ඔහුගේ නිර්මාන ගැන මෙතරම් කතා කෙරෙන්නේ. මේ ඔහුගේ තවත් රසවත් එමෙන්ම ත්‍රාසය පිරි චිත්‍රපටියක්.

 

මෙහි කතාව සරල එකක්. නමුත් සරල නොවන්නේ එය ඉදිරිපත් කෙරෙන ආකාරයයි. මුල සිටම දිගු දෙබස් ඛාණ්ඩ සහ චරිත ගවේෂනයන්ගෙන් නොඅඩු මෙහි ත්‍රාසය කෙමෙන් කෙමෙන් ගොඩ නැගෙයි. එහි කියවෙන සියලුම දේවල් වලින් කතාවට දැඩි බලපෑමක් නැතත් ඒවා සියල්ල යම් තරමකට හෝ වැදගත් බවක් පෙන්වීමට අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයා ප්‍රයත්න දරයි. නමුත් අවසානයේදී චිත්‍රපටියෙහි උච්චතම අවස්ථාවේදී සියලු දේම පැහැදිලිව දිස්වෙන අතර කතාව ඉතාමත්ම හුරුබුහුටිව හසුරුවා ඇති බව අපට හැඟෙයි. පසු ගිය යුගයකට අයිති ඉතාමත්ම හොඳ චිත්‍රපටියක් Vertigo.

Losing limbs is no doubt one of the most painful and mind shattering experience a person could have.

And this movie is about losing life and finding its way again through pain and with bravery. And no doubt this flick is a touchy one. It speaks of some horrible things people face that we would probably love to forget and even uncomfortable to discuss about. But yet there are so many people out there who live with it and maybe having the courage than most of us do to live that way.

 

Rust and Bone is a powerful drama equipped with matching cinematography that speaks with quirky scene compositions and mood. And it has a set of beautifully crafted characters that are played skillfully by good actors. Marion Cotillard is one of them who we are quite familiar with Hollywood movies as well. Throughout this movie it speaks of people, their lives and expectations. How they live it and how they lose hope in the most hoped things in their lives. But the power of undying passion that makes them stronger and makes them return to living. A good movie with a very big heart.

 

අත පය අහිමි වීම අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම මනුෂ්‍යයකු විසින් අත් විඳිය හැකි ඉතාමත්ම වේදනාකාරී සහ මානසිකව බියකරුම අත්දැකීමකි. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය එවැනි ජීවිතය අහිමිවීම සහ නැවත එය සොයාගෙන වේදනාව උඩින් උත්සාහවන්තකම මතුවීම ගැන කියවෙන ප්‍රබල එකක්. එමෙන්ම එය ඉතාමත්ම සංවේදී චිත්‍රපටියක්. එයින් කියවෙන්නේ අප බොහෝවිට කතා කිරීමට පවා අකමැති බිහිසුණු දේ සහ නමුත් ඒවාට අකමැත්තෙන් හෝ මුහුණ දෙමින් ජීවිතය ජය ගන්න ශක්තිමත් මිනිසුන්ගේ කතාවයි.

 

මෙහි සිනමාකරණය කතාවට ඉතාමත්ම සමීප වන අතර එයට ආවේනික රුප රාමු සහ මනෝභාවයක් වෙයි. එමෙන්ම මෙහි හොඳින් නිමැවුණු චරිත සහ ඒවා දක්ෂ ලෙස  රඟපාන්නාවූ නළු නිලියන්ද වෙයි. ඒ අතරින් මැරියන්  කොටිලර්ඩ් අපට හොලිවුඩ් චිත්‍රපටිවල දැක පුරුදු නිලියක්. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය පුරාවටම මිනිසුන්, ජීවිත සහ ඔවුන්ගේ බලාපොරොත්තු ගැන කතිකා වෙයි. ඔවුන් ජීවත් වන්නේ කෙසේද එමෙන්ම ඔවුන්ගේ බලාපොරොත්තු කඩ වුනු පසු ඔවුන් නැවත වරක් ජීවය ලබා ශක්තිමත්ව නැගී සිටින්නේ කෙසේද යන්නද කියවෙයි. මෙය ලොකු හදවතක් සහිත හොඳ චිත්‍රපටියකි.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) (India/Hindi)

SRK and Yash Chopra seems always a winning combination. And this would be the final of that formula in working which the world would ever see. And just as it was before this also has its moments of glory. Knowing the plots that bollywood comes up with and its style of storytelling this indeed is no big of a surprise. But it is well presented with breath taking cinematography, emotional filled acting and fantastic set of songs.

 

Speaking of the plot one might simply throw it aside blaming it to be lame or too coincidence driven. But knowing bollywood there has being many unspeaking worthy plots than this. And if you take it serious and think along the basic lines it has a certain depth that can actually make you wonder.  What can love do to you and what daring things that love can make you do would be two of those. I simply enjoyed it for its bollywood beauty and the fantastic wide angle cinematography. And for it being a truly romantic movie as it has always supposed to be.

 

ශාරුක් ඛාන් සහ යාෂ් චොප්රා යනු සැම විටකම පාහේ ජයග්‍රාහි මුසුවක්. මේ ඒ මුසුවේ අප විසින් අත් දැකිය හැකි අවසාන චිත්‍රපටියයි. මින් පෙර චිත්‍රපටි මෙන්ම මෙහිද මෙනෙහි කලයුතු තරම් වුනු අගනා අවස්තාවනි ඇත. බොලිවුඩ් සිනමාවට ආවේනික කතා සහ කතා කීමේ රටාවන් ගත් කල මෙහි අමුතුවෙන් පුදුම විය යුතු දෙයක් නොමැත. නමුත් එය සිත මන්මත් කරවන සිනමාකරණය, ලයාන්විත රංගනය සහ වින්දනීය සංගීතය යන අංග තුනෙන්ම පොහොසත්.

 

මෙහි කතාව ගැන විමසීමේදී සමහරෙක් එය බොළඳ සහ හුදෙක් අහඹු සිදුවීම් මත පදනම්ව දිවෙන එකක් ලෙස පවසා බැහැර කල හැකියි. නමුත් සැබවින්ම මෙයට වඩා බොළඳ කතා ඉන්දීය සිනමාවටනම් අරුමයක් නොවේ. නමුත් මදක් ගැඹුරින් විමසීමේදී එම කතාව තුල ගත යුතු දෑ සහ දිගින් දිගට සිතීමට දේවල් ඇත්තේය. ආදරය විසින් යමෙකුට කල හැකි දේ සහ ආදරය විසින් යමෙකු ලවා කෙරෙවිය හැකි දේ ඉන් දෙකක්. මා විසින් මේ චිත්රපටිය එහි බොලිවුඩ් සිනමාවේ සුන්දරත්වය සහ මනරම් පුළුල් තිර සිනමාකරණය නිසා බෙහෙවින් රස විඳින ලදී. එමෙන්ම එය බලාපොරොත්තු වූවාක් සේම ඉතාමත්ම ප්‍රේමනීය එකකි.

Demoted (2011)

Where as many comedies are failures, this I would recommend as a good comedy. It is not great but it will make you laugh. It has a funny plot and a good chemistry fit among the two main leads. And just as you expect from an adult comedy this has lot of filth to go about. Good start, middle and end!

 

අනුන්ගේ ඇස් රතුවන විහිළු කරන මිතුරන් දෙකෙනෙකුට එම විහිළුවල අනිසි ප්‍රතිපල විඳින්නට ලැබෙන්නේ ඔවුන්ගෙන් සමච්චලයට ලක් වුනු පුද්ගලයෙක් කාර්යාලයේ ලොක්කා වීමෙන් පසුවයි.

 

නිතර දකින බොහොමයක් හාස්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටි සාර්ථක ඒවා නොවුනත් මෙය හොඳ එකක් බව කිව හැකි. එය විශිෂ්ට එකක් නොවුනත් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා සිනහ ගන්වන්නට හැකි එකක්. එහි විනෝදාත්මක කතාවක් සහ හොඳ මුසුවක් සහිත ප්‍රධාන නළුවන් දෙපලක් සිටි. ඒවගේම වැඩිහිටි හාස්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක තිබිය යුතු තරම් අසැබි විහිළු මෙහි ගහනයි. හොඳ ආරම්භයක්, මැදක් සහ අවසානයක් සහිතයි.

The Legends of the Fall (1994)

Based upon the relationships of a war veteran father and his 3 young sons and the fiancé of the youngest son this drama is a very special piece of cinema. It had deep and very profound character explorations and one of the most touching story line that you cannot take your mind off of. This wonderful movie packed with skilled acting of many including Anthony Hopkins and young Brad Pitt is long but thoroughly soul touching. Just as much as the free will of Tristan the middle son of the family who is an adventurer and an explorer the viewers are bound to their life and fate. You witness the rising of a great family and the events that torn them apart eventually. But still their blood connection is so strong that finding their true place at home has always being a reward. Mixed with one of a kind romance, thrill and adventure The Legends of the Fall is truly a legend in its making.

Honestly I do not know if there is good acting or even good cinematography in this. Actors seem to be rather artificial or very different and cinematography is something like made by an amateur using a camera phone. But what are gripping about this movie are its mood and the story. In a way you can interpret the acting and cinematography to be one of the most natural ones. And there is a very mild script that doesn’t have much to say. But most of it is presented with action and silence. And believe me this is not a fairy tale about love blossoming amongst too people in the dream land of Kashmir. I trust it is life and hardship mix with expectation made extra sweet with a drop of love.

 

අවන්කවම මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ හොඳ රඟපෑමක් හෝ සිනමාකරණයක් ඇතිදැයි කීමට මම නොදනිමි. එහි නළු නිලියන් ඉතා කෘතීම හෝ වෙනස් වන අතර කැමරාකරණය නුපුහුණු අයෙක් විසින් ජංගම දුරකතනයකින් කරන ලද්දක් සේ දැනේ. නමුත් මෙහි බැඳීම ඇතිවන්නේ එහි කතාව සහ චිත්‍රපටිය විසින් ගොඩනගන මනෝ භාවය විසින්. සමහරක් විට මෙහි ඇති අමු රංගනය සහ සිනමාකරණය අධි තාත්වික එකක් ලෙස හැඳින්වීමටත් හැකියාවක් ඇත. එමන්ම අඩු දෙබස් පරිශීලනයක් සහිතව වැඩිපුරම රංගනය තුලින් සහ නිහඬ බව තුලින් මෙහි කතාව දිග හැරෙනවා. මා විශ්වාස කරන්න මෙය කාශ්මීරයේ සිහින පසු තල මත බිහිවුණු පෙම් කතාවක් නම් නොවේ. මා සිතන්නේ මෙය ආදරය නමැති පැණි බින්දුවක් දමා රසවත් කල ජීවිතය, එහි කටුකබව සහ බලාපොරොත්තුව නමැති කතාව බවයි.

Don’t think you can call this a children's movie right away. It does have a wonderful theme with a very talented child actor in it but there is lot that fits any age of audience. And it’s based on a very memorable childhood experience which I’m sure many have their own stories to tell. That’s flying kites. Though the movie is a little bit heavier than kites themselves at some points, most of the time it will take the viewer high up in the sky with lot of joy and happiness. And the feeling of being lifted from the ground and forgetting all the harsh reality that exist down there is a good one. This is not the typical long movie from Bollywood. It’s short and it’s definitely sweet.

 

මෙය එක හෙලාම කුඩා දරුවන් සඳහාවූ චිත්‍රපටියක් කියා කීමට නොහැකි. එය රසවත් කතාවක් සහ ඉතා දක්ෂ ළමා රංගනයක් සහිත ඕනෑම වයසක අයෙකුට රසවිඳිය හැකි එකක්. ඒ වගේම මෙහි කතාවත් බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට තම සුන්දර ළමා කාලය මතක් කරදීමට සමත් දෙයක් වටායි ගෙතෙන්නෙ. එනම් සරුංගල් යැවීම. සමහර තැන් වල චිත්‍රපටිය සරුංගල් වලට වටා ගොඩක් බර බවක් දැනුනත්, බොහෝ තැන් වලදී එය සරුංගලයක් වගේ සැහැල්ලුවෙන් ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාව ඉතා ඉහලට ගෙන යනවා. මහා පොළොවේ ඇති අසුන්දර දේවල් මොහොතකට හෝ අමතක කර සරුන්ගලයත් සමග අහසට එසවෙන මොහොතේ ඇතිවන හැඟීම නම් ඉතින් බොහොම සුන්දර එකක්. මෙය ඉන්දියාවේ අප නිතර දකින ඕනවට වඩා දිග චිත්‍රපටියක් නොවේ. එය ඉතා කෙටි වගේම ඉතා ලස්සනයි.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988) (Japan/Japanese)

Nobody can do cartoons like the Japanese do. They have the drawing skills, style and stories that are purely nothing less than mesmerizing. This one is another such fantastic anime coming from Studio Ghibli the famous anime factory that bought number of great movies to light. And it has a magical story that connects mythical creatures and children which somewhat is a common factor for many Japanese anime I have witnessed. But each of them though the characters look alike or theme maybe the same are still very different from each other and simply lovable. This movie is wrapped upon Totoro a mystical creature who is a forest god that is chubby and cuddly reminds of a half teddy bear and a half rabbit and very very cute. And so does the children who are naughty, funny and a joy to see. Running with a good phase and one after another stunning scenes My Neighbor Totoro is a very nice anime that brings joy at heart.

 

ජපන්නුන්ට වගේ කාටුන් අඳින්න කාටවත්ම බැහැ. ඔවුන්ට චිත්‍ර ශිල්පිය හැකියාව, ශයිලිය සහ සිත වශී කරවන කතාන්තර නිතැතින්ම හිමිවුණු දායාද. “ටෝටොරෝ මගේ අසල්වැසියා” යන මේ චිත්‍රපටියත් එවැනි සුන්දර ඇනිමේ වර්ගයේ චිත්‍රපටියක්. එය අප වෙත ගෙන එන්නේ ප්‍රසිද්ධම ජපන් ඇනිමේ රුපාගාරය වන ගිබ්ලි වෙතින්. ඔවුන් විසින් මින් පෙර ගෙන එන ලද ඇනිමේ චිත්‍රපටි ඔබ ඕනෑ තරම් රස විඳ ඇතුවාට සැක නැහැ. ඒ ගොඩක් කතා මනංකල්පිත ප්‍රාණීන් සහ කුඩා දරුවන් මුලික කරගත් ඒවා. මෙයත් එවැනිම කතාවක් වුවත් එහි චරිත පෙනුමෙන් අනෙක් චිත්‍රපටි වල සිටින දරුවන්ට ගොඩක් සමාන වුවත් මේ චිත්‍රපටියටත් අනෙක් ඒවාට වගේම ඇලුම් නොකරම බැහැ. මේ කතාවේ ඉන්න ටෝටොරෝ බූල් බෝලයක් වගේ ලස්සන හාවෙක් සහ පුළුන් වලසෙක් මතකයට නංවන පෙනුමක් සහිත හුරතල් රුක් දෙවියෙක්. ඒ වගේම දරුවන්ද හුරතල්, දඟකාර, විනෝදකාමී අය. ඉතා හොඳ වේගයකින් සහ එකක් පසු පස එකක් දිග හැරෙන ලස්සනම ලස්සන චිත්‍ර පෙලකින් පිරි මේ චිත්‍රපටිය හදවතට සතුට දනවන එකක්.

This Boys Life (1993)

This is the beautifully crafted cinema adaptation of life story of the writer Tobias Wolff. And immediately you starts to fall in for the performance by the very young Leonardo Decaprio who I’m sure was not that commended at the time. This movie is a clear sign of him becoming one of the most talented actors in Hollywood today.

 

The story is good. It doesn’t lag or doesn’t dwell too much on any event but smoothly flows. The dream of escaping of a young boy who is abused by his step father is the whole fundamental that lies underneath. And that dream is quite well reserved till the end and the viewer solemnly wishes for the boy’s happiness. There are moments of stupidity, humor and above all despair that holds the movie well together. It’s not only a strong emotional drive. It’s more than that.

 

මෙය සුන්දරව සිනමාවට නැගුනු ටොබායස් වුල්ෆ් නමැති ඇමෙරිකානු ගත් කතුවරයාගේ ජීවිත කතාවයි. මුලින්ම ඔබ ඉතා බාල වියේ පසුවන අද සිනමාවේ දක්ෂම නළුවෙක් බවට පත් වී ඇති ලියනර්ඩෝ ඩි කැප්රියෝ ගේ රංගනයට මන බඳිනු ඇත. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඔහු යම් දිනෙක විශිෂ්ට නළුවෙක් බවට පත් වීමේ පෙර නිමිති මොනවට කියා පායි.

 

මෙහි කතාව හොඳය. එය ඉදිරිපත් කෙරෙන විලාශය අනුව කිසි විටෙක අනවශ්‍යය පමාවක් නොදැනෙයි. තම කුඩප්පාගේ ක්‍රියා කලාපය නිසා සිත් තැවුලට පත් දරුවෙක් එයින් මිදී පලා යාමට සිහින මැවීම තුලය් මෙහි කතාව ගෙතෙන්නේ. එම සිහිනය ඉතා හොඳින් චිත්‍රපටිය තුල ස්ථාපිත වන අතර ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා එම දරුවාගේ යහපත් අනාගතයක් පිලිබඳ සිහින මැවීමට පටන් ගනී. මෙහි ඇති මෝඩකම්, හාස්‍යය සහ ඒ සියල්ලට වඩා දැනෙන දුක්මුසු හැඟීම් තුලින් කතාව හොඳින් ගොඩ නැගෙයි. මෙය හුදෙක්ම දුක්බර කතාවක් පමණක් නොවෙයි. එය ඉන් ඔබ්බට ගිය එකක්.

Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)

When the words fantasy and cinema are connected what comes to mind is a world filled with imaginary creatures and beautiful landscapes that can only exists in a magical land. This is true for most of the movies out there but not for this one entirely. The fantasy here works in a very subtle and different way. For the best of it is not really anything to do with fantasy but real life. This is a story that can happen anywhere at any place and that’s what makes it beautiful and easy to connect with.

 

Filled with dramatic details and powerful performance this movie comes to light bringing a touching story line. And the cinematography is simply one of the best this year. You will see a great performance by a child and taste and smells the life in the ‘Bathtub’ and imaginary colony in the south east corner of the planet. And you will get to live the lives of a set of people who are bound by culture and values. It’s a tough life out there but plenty to laugh and drink about. Even the death!

 

සිනමාව සහ මනංකල්පිතය යන වචන දෙක එක් වුනු විට අපට මතක් වන්නේ දැක පුරුදු නැති වෙනස් සත්වයින් සහ අතිශය පියකරු භුමිතලයි. නමුත් මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ මනංකල්පිතය යන්න වෙනස් එමෙන්ම සියුම් අරුතක් ඇති එකක්. මෙහි බොහෝ දේ සැබෑ ලොවට වඩාත් සම්බන්ධ අතර මෙම කතාව කොහේ හෝ තැනක සැබවින් සිදු විය ඇති එක සේ හැඟෙ. එම නිසාම එය සමග ඔබට වඩාත් හොඳින් සම්බන්ධ වීමට හැකියාවක් ඇත.

 

ඉතා නිර්මානාත්මක පසුතල සහ ප්‍රබල රංගනයන්ගෙන් පිරිපුන් මේ චිත්‍රපටියෙහි කතාව හදවතට දැනෙන එකක්. ගිනිකොන දිග ලෝකයේ දේශයක දුෂ්කර ජීවිතයක් ගතකරන ජලාශ්‍රිත මිනිසුන් කොට්ටාශයක් වටා එය ගෙතෙනවා. එහි වෙසෙන මව නැති කුඩා දැරිවියක් සහ ඇයගේ ලෙඩින් පසුවන පියා අතර ඇතිවන කතාවකි මෙහි මුලික තේමාව. මේ දැරියගේ රංගනය ඉතාම සුන්දර එකක්. ඒ අතරම ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිතයට තර්ජනයක් වන කාලගුණික බලපෑම් සහ ඔවුන්ට ශිෂ්ට සමාජයෙන් එල්ලවන තර්ජනද බොහෝ වෙයි. ඒ කෙසේ වෙතත් තම විශ්වාස සහ සංස්කෘතිය රැක ගනිමින් සොබාදහම සමග දිවි ගෙවන මේ මිනිසුන්ගේ කතාව ඉතා අපුරුයි. ඔවුන් මලගමකදී පවා කෑ බි සිනහවෙන් ගත කරන්නට තරම් සැහැල්ලු ශක්තිමත්  මිනිසුන්.
