Some say anime is twisted and complicated. I don’t agree most of the time but with Murdock Scramble I have no choice. It will take some time for the viewer to fathom the plot the good the bad and the ugly. The visuals are purely pragmatic and artistically grand. The plot  as I mentioned before is a little too complex to understand at first but once you get to know the corners it’s a free flow. However I'm not overly impressed of this movie. The main reason is that it looks and feel too artificial. Science fictions and anime’s are most of the time artificial but this one feels too distant. And it’s quite short with a time span of little over an hour. There are two more installments to the story…. But I won’t check them out.

විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ සහ ඇනිමේ ගණයට වැටෙන පැයක් තරම් සුළු ධාවන කාලයක් සහිත චිත්‍රපටියක්. මෙහි කතාව එක එල්ලේ තේරුම් ගැනීමට අපහසු වීම සහ එය හුදෙක් යාන්ත්‍රිකරණ ස්වභාවයෙන් යුතුව මිනිස් මනසට සමීප නොවීම නිසා මේ ගැන මාගේ වැඩි මනාපයක් නැහැ. රුප රාමු සහ සජීවිකරණය හැසිරවීම අතින් ඉතා හොඳ මට්ටමක තිබුනා. ඒ හැරුණු කොට යමක් ඉදිරිපත් නොවීම ගැන සැහීමකට පත්විය නොහැකි. මේ චිත්‍රපටි මාලාවේ තවත් කතා 2ක් තිබුනත් ඒවා මා නොබලන බව කිව යුතුය්.

When I saw the end credits appear on the screen… I realized that if I don’t rate this movie 5/5 I will curse myself forever. A movie doesn’t simply be different or strikes as being great without strong presence of emotional element. Because, good cinema is completely about self realization for the viewer whatever the volumes it maybe. This movie is just a mind blowing emotional experience that you may come across very rarely. I don’t recall me being so engulfed in emotions and heart ache and expecting to see some solace for the characters that appear in this than any other movie. I wanted them to find peace with themselves… become normal though how hard it may seem.  But deep within I knew there is no joy for them anymore as life has changed forever. If a movie can make you feel that pain and regret just like it was your own experience, then there is nothing else that you can ever expect from cinema. This Chinese masterpiece I will take to my grave.

 

සිනමා කෘතියක් අනර්ඝ වීමට නම් එය යම් කිසි දුරකට හෝ එය නරඹන්නාගේ සිත තුල ස්ව ආත්ම ගවේෂණයක් ජනිත කල හැකි කෘතියක් විය යුතුමය්. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය නරඹන විට මා සිත ජනිත වූ අනේක හැඟීම මෙතෙකය් කියා පහසුවෙන් කිව නොහැකි තරම්. මුල සිට අගට ජීවිතයක් තරම් බරැති හැඟීම් ගොන්නක් සමග පොර බදන මේ කතාව, ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාගේ මනස සහ හදවත ඉතාමත්ම තදින් ස්පර්ශ කරනවා. සමහර විටක මෙහි ඇති චරිත වටා සැරිසරන දුක්බර මතක සමුදාය අපිට අපේම මතකයම් මෙන් දැනෙනවා. ඔබ කොතරම් තද සිත්  ඇත්තෙක් උවත් ඔබේ හදවත හඬවා ඇසට කඳුලක් නැගෙනු වලකනු නොහැකි වේවි. මා දන්නේ එක් සත්‍යයක් පමණි. එනම් මේ විශිෂ්ඨ චීන සිනමා කෘතිය මාගේ මනස තුල නොමැකෙන මතකයන් ගොන්නට එක් වූ බවය්.

Religion is the cause for some of the biggest problems in the world. And it is the best solution for many problems as well. Parzania is based on this very fact. There will be times that you will get goose bumps and your blood circulations speed up with anxiety. And there will be moments where your eyes will fill with tears and your heart will ache with pain. Parzania is a touching and a very emotional movie that’s seldom seeing from India. It’s about true events taken place in 2002 related to a religion based violence and a family who suffers a lethal blow. Well structured and presented it reminds of movies based on the Rwandan genocide which effectively puts some bitter reality in to the cinema platter. Wonderful performances by the cast I must say.

ආගමක නාමයෙන් අන්තවාදී ලෙස ක්‍රියා කිරීම  මනුෂ්‍යය වර්ගයා විසින් කිසි සේත් නොකළ යුතු පහත් දෙයක් උවත් එය සිදු නොවුන යුගයක් මිනිස් ඉතිහාසයේ නොමැති තරම්. අප කෙතරම් දියුණු මනසකට උරුම කම් කීවත් ආගම නමැති ශක්තිමත් ආයුධය තමන්ගේ ගැලවීමට නොව අනුන්ගේ නැසීමට උපයෝගිකරගන්නා මිනිස් මොඩයින්ගෙන් ලොවට අඩුවක් නැහැ. මේ කතාවට වස්තු පාදක වන්නේ එවන් ආගමික අන්තවාදයේ දුක්බර අත් දැකීමකට මුහුණ දුන් පවුලක්. 2002 වසරේදී ඉන්දියාවේ සිදු උණු සත්‍යය සිදුවීම් මුල් කොටගෙනය මෙය නිෂ්පාදනය උනේ. සත්‍යය වශයෙන්ම ඉතාමත්ම සංවේදී දර්ශන පෙළක් මේ චිත්‍රපටිය පුරාවටම දිවෙනවා. මා කාලෙකින් දුටු සිතට දැනෙන මනසට ආහාරයක්‌ සපයන සිනමා කෘතියක්.

If you have seeing ‘Warrior’ or 'The Fighter' you will be quite disappointed in this movie. But if you didn’t, there is a probability that you will like this lots. However being a low budget movie this delivers some real good and strong punches and kicks. There is power and balance but for it to be truly effective it’s too short. It just runs for 90mts and that cramps up the plot a lot and you actually feel that there is acceleration without value addition. The plot of course is not anything unique and well predictable. But for a fan of fights and fitness it will sure to pump some adrenaline while watching. Yet overall it’s just  another action movie. Could have being much much better.

සටන් කලාවන් ගැන ගෙතුන චිත්‍රපටි අපට නුහුරු නුපුරුදු දෙයක් නොවේ. මෑත කාලයේ එලි දැක්වුණු The worrier  සහ The Fighter  එවැනි චිත්‍රපටි ගොන්නෙහි විශිෂ්ට කඩ ඉම් බව ඔබ දැනටමත් දන්නවා ඇති. මේ චිත්‍රපටිය එවැනි චිත්‍රපටි සමග සැසඳීම කිසිසේත්ම උචිත නොවුනත් තනිව ගත් කල යම් දුරකට සාර්තකය්. මෙහි කතාව සිත් ගන්නා සුළු අයුරින් දිග හැරුණත් එය පැය එකහමාරක් වැනි කෙටි කාලයකට සීමා වී තිබීම නිසා එහි අගය අඩු වී තිබෙනවා. කෙසේ වෙතත් හොඳ සටන් ජවනිකා වලින් පිරුණු මේ චිත්‍රපටිය නොබලා සිටීමට තරම් හේතුවක් නැහැ.

Maybe I was expecting too much because of the true and quality artistic movies that I have seeing from India comparing to the usual masala. But this didn’t please me much. It does have a good start and a good flow. But at some point it loses its momentum, becomes too silent and comes to an predictable ending. The whole movie is sex driven and it will take some time for the viewer to really fathom it. Maybe the mood change is not smooth or it comes as a surprise and that’s like the only noticeable positive point. However on the whole there is a deep gist of realization in mind boggling truths about life.

අසහනකාරී විලාපයන් ගොන්නක් සිතින් විඳ ගනිමින් කාලයක් සන්සුන්ව නිශ්ශබ්දව සිටි තරුණියකගේ ඇතුලාන්තයේ පිපිරී යාම මේ කතාවේ සාරාන්ශයය්. කතාවේ ප්‍රබලත්වය කෙසේ වෙතත් එය එතරම් සංවේදී සහ දැනෙන සුළු බවකින් ඉදිරිපත් නොවන බවය් මට සිතෙන්නේ.  ලිගිකත්වය උලුප්පා දැක්වීම තුල සැඟවුණු ගැඹුරු මානසික අරුතක් මේ කතාව පුරාම දිවෙනවා. නමුත් එය අසාමාන්‍යය කතාවක් නොවීම නිසාදෝ එහි වැඩි විශේෂත්වයක් පෙනෙන්නට නැහැ.

Undercover agent, spy, special skills and own agency turning on him. Then he fights a lonely battle to finish what he started. Sounds familiar? I think this formula is tested too much for too long. There were times it was so fantastic (like in the Bourne trilogy) and there are time it’s just normal like in Cleanskin! This flick is not a total rip off of another plot but it does have lot of similarities to lot of other spy flicks. However the story flows well and there is enough thrill and action to keep it going. And there is actually a sub plot which is worth watching relates to an act of terrorism. But yet at the end of it there is nothing you can keep. Good thing is the appearance and the accent of Ned Stark!! The rest is old Spys!!

 

රහස් ඔත්තුකරුවන් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ ඒජන්ත වරුන් ගැන ගෙතුණු චිත්‍රපටි විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් අතුරෙන්, කිව යුතු තරම් වෙනසක් නොගත් තවත් එක් චිත්‍රපටියක් ලෙස මෙය හැඳින්විය හැකි. එක් එල්ලේ බලා  සිටීමේ හැකියාව සහ කඩින් කඩ ඇති හොඳ ක්‍රියාදාමයන් සහ ත්‍රාසජනක සිදුවීම් හැරුනුකොට මේ චිත්‍රපටිය තුල ඉන් ඔබ්බට ගෙන යා හැකි දෙයක් නැහැ. නමුත් මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ පැති කඩ දෙකක් අතුරෙන් ප්‍රධාන නළුවාට පිටින් ගෙතෙන තවත් කතාවක් නිසා මෙහි අගය වැඩි වන බව කිව යුතුමය්. සමහරක් විට ඒ කතාව මෙහි ප්‍රධාන කතාව වූයේනම්.....

Can’t really say that I was surprised by this movie. The plot is quite good and overall atmospheric mood is also appealing. Yet there is something really missing here. It could be the mismatch with the cast or I was expecting another Robert Downey Junior moment, Or another Sweeny Todd or Sleepy Hallow sensation. Having mildly similar characteristics amongst them   this flick is obviously in behind. But as I said before, individually it is not a bad watch at all. It’s just that we have seeing better ones earlier and it spoils the mood!

 

මෙයට පෙර ඔබ දැක නැති අමුතු දෙයක් නම් මේ චිත්‍රපටියේ නැහැ. මින් පෙර මෙවැනි කතා අනෙක වාරයක් මීට වඩා විශිෂ්ට අන්දමින් තිරයේ දිග හැරී තිබෙනවා. නමුත් තනිව ගත් කල මෙය හොඳ නිර්මාණයක් බව කිව යුතුමය්. ත්‍රාසය සහ කුතුහලය හොඳින් ගැබ් උණු කතාවක් මෙහි තිබෙනවා.

This is a warm hearted drama which speaks of life in a different perspective than most us have seeing in movies before. It majorly takes place in India with renowned cast from UK and it blends in to the heart and minds of most us as we are Asians to start with. I wonder if it has this witty quality of Indian cinema as well or it was influenced by it in bits and pieces. Overall the plot is interesting and so do the flow of it. There are wonderful dialogues that some might stop to ponder upon and few lessons for life. And quite funny yet wonderful performance by the Slum Dog star Dev Patel.

 

 

ජීවිතයේ ඔබ කොතරම් යහළු මිත්‍රයින් ඇති කර ගත්තත්, නොයෙක් තනතුරු දැරුවත්, මිල මුදල් හම්බ කෙරුවත් සමහර විට ඒ ජීවිතයේ අවසාන කාලයේදී ඔබ තනිවන්නට ඉඩ තිබෙනවා. එවන් තනිවූ මිනිසුන් කිහිප දෙනෙක් සතුට සහ සැනසීම සොයාගෙන ඉන්දියාවේ පිහිටි පැරණි ලැගුම් හලක් වෙත පැමිණීම සමගය් මේ කතාව ඇරඹෙන්නේ. ඉතාම හොඳ කතාවක් නොවුනත් ජීවිතය ගැන ගැඹුරු අරුතක් වෙනස් ආරයකට කියන්න උත්සාහ කල චිත්‍රපටියක් මෙය. හින්දි සිනමාවේ අභාශයද මෙහි විටින් විට දැකිය හැකි. එමෙන්ම සිනහවෙන් යුතු සතුටුදායක නිමාවක් රැගත් කෘතියක්.

Here’s what I have to say about the Amazing Spider Man. It indeed is amazing. Yes it’s the same old story and the same old action and the villain’s blah blah. So if you expect something new just don’t watch it. But if you want to see a new version of spider man which is even cooler and funnier than the previous ones and want to see some jaw dropping 3d pillar to pillar swinging, then this is the best place to be. The plot is all predictable from the start but it has a lot of emotional touch to it. There are moments where you might even get gloomy and some moments where you feel like applauding. This is the most emotionally charged spider man ever. And that final sequence is worth watching over and over again.  That was a fantastic ending.

 

ස්පය්ඩර් මෑන් තේමාවෙන් සිනමා කරලියට එක් වන නවතම චිත්‍රපටියෙහි කතා වස්තුවේ නම් එතරම් නවමු ගතියක් නැහැ. නමුත් නිෂ්පාදනය සහ 3d තාක්ෂණ මෙහෙයුම ඉතා හොඳ මට්ටමක තිබෙනවා. එමෙන්ම මුලින් මේ චරිතය සඳහා පන පෙවූ Tobey Maguire මෙන්ම ම නවක නනවක නළු ළු Andrew Garfield එම  චරිතයේ නියම ගැඹුර නිරුපනය කරන බවය් මගේ හැඟීම. මෙවර ස්පය්ඩර් මෑන් කතාව අනෙකුත් ඒවාට වඩා හැඟීම බරය්. එම නිසාම එය යම් කිසි විශේෂත්වයක් හොබවනවා. නමුත් සමස්තයක් වශයෙන් ඉතා විශිෂ්ට කෘතියක් නොවන අතර ස්පය්ඩර් මෑන් රසිකයින්ටනම් (මා වැනි) ඉතා හොඳ අත්දැකිමක්!!

After seeing too many martial art movies from China here comes a gem like film magic that stands up shoulder to shoulder with great war movies made in western cinema. This maybe the best Chinese historical war based movie that awe impressed me so far. It’s emotional, heroic , brutal and suspenseful that is of the perfect formula for a good war movie. No doubt the plot is what makes this movie a wonderful experience keeping aside the fantastic work done on acting, sets, graphics and war action. To be honest I was impressed to see Bale appearing in a Chinese production and was curious to find out how he pulls it off. And there is no amusement there but pure talent displayed again. There are so many reasons why this is a good movie. But I think the best reason of all is how it leaves you wondering at the ending scene. It will leave you with hope in one hand but despair on the other. Wonderful wonderful movie.

වචන වලින් විස්තර කරන්න බැරි තරම් හැඟීම් වලින් බර වූ සිනමා කෘතියක්. මෙතෙක් කල් අප දැක ඇති සාම්ප්‍රදායික චීන චිත්‍රපටි වලට සැබෑ අභියෝගයක් වෙමින් නිපදවුණු මෙය ඇත්ත වශයෙන්ම අනර්ඝය්. මෙහි ඇත්තේ විශිෂ්ට රඟපෑම්, ක්‍රියාදාම සහ යුධ ජවනිකා පමණක් නොවේ. එහි තිබෙන කතා වස්තුව ඉතාමත් සංවේදී ජනකය්. මිනිසුන් විසින් අනෙක් මිනිසුන් සත්වයින් සේ මරා දමද්දී ඒ මිනිසුන් අතර සිටින දෙවියන් වැනි සැඟවුණු චරිත ගැනය් මින් කියවෙන්නේ. මේ චරිත ඔබ අප පිළිකුල් කරන අවමංගල්‍යය සහයකයින් හෝ පහත් කර සලකන ගණිකාවන් හෝ විය හැකි. නමුත් ඔවුන්ගේ ගතේ නැති නමුත් සිතේ ඇති පිරිසිඳු බවට හොඳ ක්‍රියාව මිසක් වෙනත් සාක්ෂි අවශ්‍යය නොවනු ඇත.

This movie doesn’t carry anything extraordinary. But it speaks several truths in-depth through the diverse set of characters in it. These people don’t know each other or they were meant to be known but like all of us in the society we have our own story. Chaurahen is a set of ideas that might be contradictory or fit to the viewer’s comprehension but could be applicable in general. And this is not a big budget masterpiece. It’s just something that you will see life in it without boasting about it. Highly recommended for the drama lovers, while the rest might leave after fifteen minutes.

 

මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ජීවිතය සහ අත්දැකීම් ගැන සුළුවෙන් සහ ගැඹුරින් කෙරෙන කතිකාවතක්. අතිශය නාට්‍යමය ස්වරූපයකින් යුතු මෙය බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට ප්‍රිය නොවීමට තරම් වේගවත් හෝ කුතුහලයෙන් බර නොවිය හැකි. නමුත් මේ අරුත් බර කතා කිහිපයක් සහ ලස්සන පිටපත්.

There were many look alike teen comedies came following this series back in the day but none could match what American Pie was. And here comes the latest installment after 9 years and it sure is not a letdown. The whole gang appears again but only looks a bit older but same attitudes all the way. And what can you really expect from this flick other than muscle cramping adult humor? It delivers just that and some jokes are sick yet funny as hell. I laughed out loud few times while watching it! Not the usual LOL but for real. If you liked American Pie, hell you cannot miss this!

 

ඉල ඇට ඇදෙන වැඩිහිටි විහිළු වල උපන් ගෙය වන් American Pie කතා මාලාවේ අලුත්ම වෙළුම ඇත්තෙන්ම විනෝදජනකය්. මෙය පවුලේ සියල්ල සමගින් බලනවා තියා හිතන්නවත් බැරි බව අමුතුවෙන් කීමට අවශ්‍යය නැහැ නේ ?

For some reason I really thought this is going to be a good movie. But it turned out to be a total failure. The plot is complete bullocks and the CG is also bad. Only thing that’s worth seeing is the witty and sarcastic performance by Guy Pears. Another load of garbage in the name of big budget. When is Hollywood ever gonna learn?

 

මා දුටු ක්‍රියාදාම විද්‍යා ප්‍රභන්ධ වලින් ඉතාම දුර්වල චිත්‍රපටියක්. මෙහි කතාවේ පටන් අවසන් නිෂ්පාදනය දක්වා තිබෙන්නේ වැරදි ගොන්නක් මිසක් බැලීමට තරම් වැදගත් කිසිවක් නොවේ. ප්‍රධාන නළුවා වන Guy Pears ගේ රංගනය හැරුණු කොට ඉතුරු සියල්ල මුලාවක්.

If I list down the reasons why I love this show that list can have several pages and over 100 items. But this short review will carry only the top of that list and why you should watch it if you still don’t.

 

Number one reason I like it because of the historical corporate factor which is the core plot takes place. How an advertising agency did operated back in 1960s and how did the employees and clients were treated and business was conducted. I can relate so much of it to today’s businesses and still I get amused with each episode. Secondly the historical accuracy of people, environment, technology, literature, habits, entertainment, fashion, transport, views, attitudes etc etc that runs under the main plot. This is the life of 60s USA and presented with details for us to fathom it. Thirdly the plot and the script that works so well hand in hand just bring the best. The story is dramatic and fantastic. It puts twist over twists but still doesn’t distract you or confuse you and flow like a calm river in each episode. And then the wonderful cast and their contribution to make this magnificent series go live. Don Draper steals the whole pot while the rest adds the heat and spice to boil the soup. Without those strong performers this show will not go anywhere.

 

It is unfair to write few lines and rate this show in a jiffy. Yet words can say so much but experiencing it is the best deal. Mad Men is one of a kind show that makes TV a place in heaven amongst the crappy shows that rules it. This is nothing else that terrific and genius. Long Live Mad Men!!

This is an epic tale of corruption, revenge and violence in the name of politics. Bound by greed and hunger for power these men and woman will stop at nothing nor will they be held by neither family values nor relationships. This is the dirty and dark world of politics in the name of democracy. For mere 3 hours this tale will shock you with twist after twist with just few minutes to ponder between lines. The plot is not perfect as it has the somewhat mundane bollywood coincidences coming to play, but the tale is gripping and strong at its best. You will discover the forever color changing political characters well played by the cast with the flawless script work. Can’t say I have seeing such a powerful political drama in Asian cinema.

 

මේ දේශපාලනයේ සහ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදයේ ගරු නාමයෙන් සිදු වන දුෂණ, වංචා, අපරාධ සහ පළි ගැනීම් ගැන කියවෙන උද්වේගකර චිත්‍රපටියක්. මේ විටින් විට පාට වෙනස් වන චරිත බලය සහ ධනයට ලෝභ වී තම නෑදෑයින්, හිතවතුන් මෙන්ම විශ්වාසවන්තයින්ද පාවා දෙමින් එය රැකගැනීමට කරන නිර්ලජ්ජිත සටනය්. පුරා පැය 3ක් පුරා ඉතා හොඳ ගලායාමක් සහිත මේ චිත්‍රපටිය ඔබව තදින් ග්‍රහණය කරනු නියතය්. ඉන්දියානු සිනමාවට පුරුදු සුළු සුළු සම්පතන වලින් යුක්ත වුවද මේ කතාව සමස්තයක් ලෙස ගැනීමේදී ඉතා හොඳින් ලියවී තිබෙනවා. ආසියානු සිනමාව තුලින් මෙවැනි රසවත් එමෙන්ම සිත කම්පාකරවන දේශපාලන නාට්‍යමය චිත්‍රපටියක් මා දැක නැහැ.

This flick scream out loud about the influence and effect of  popular entertainment to the modern day citizen. And most importantly how the society losing its values and the bad gets worshipped over the good while the society deteriorates at a speed. I cannot agree more with the conceptual reality this film speaks of. Maybe the presentation is bit too violent and gory yet the world we live in is collapsing and there is no better way to say it. Sometimes it can be scary than a horror movie if you listen to the script closely and would ultimately make you lose faith of most things that you thought is modern and cool. Good flow and crazy climax.

නුතන සමාජ ව්‍යුහය අරටුවෙන් විනාශ කරමින් යෝධ පිළිලයක් සේ නැගෙන විනෝදාස්වාදී   මාධ්‍යය රැල්ලට ප්‍රති විරුද්ධ දිසාවට දුවන චරිත දෙකක් වටා ගෙතුණු වෙනස් ආරක චිත්‍රපටියක්. නිදහස් මාධ්‍යයේ නාමයෙන් සමාජයේ රම්‍ය ලක්ෂණයන් මුලින් උදුරමින් මිනිස් සිත් සතන් තුල විස වපුරන අයුරු මොනවට කියා පාන මේ කතාව අතිශයෝක්තියක් පමණක් නොවේ. මදක් උද්වේගකර සහ ප්‍රචණ්ඩ උවත් මෙහි කියා පාන සත්‍යයටනම් ඔබට පිටු පෑ නොහැකි.
