‘Secret of Kells’ has to be the ‘sweetest’ animation I have seeing recently. Little complicated and confusing at first then slowly picking up its phase, this animation is a wonder.
It starts with a summary of what you may expect within the next 95 minutes. And it ends with hope and revealing a beginning to an age old famed book of Kells.

Brendon is young and lives with his uncle in the medieval out post. Threatened by barbaric attacks his uncle Abbot Callech rule the people and specially Brendon and keeps the whole city in side walls and continuously improves its defense. Brendon who is talented yet had no opportunity to be free as he wishes to and do anything adventurers finds something extraordinary and important to do when
Aiden the master illuminator arrives to the abbey from a distant land. In Brendons quest of helping Aiden to complete his mysterious book he meets the wolf girl in the jungle named  Aisling. So the magic begins and Brendon whole heartedly starts to be involved in completing the book.

More than the plot or the voice acting what will be really embedded in your mind is the wonderful style of animation. I don’t know how much of it is hand drawn and how much was computer generated but, the drawing style and presentation is purely fascinating. In an age where 3d graphics and CG makes the big box office ‘Secret of Kells’  animation style is a wonder to enjoy. The whole style is quite similar and definitely flowed upon the original Book of Kells itself.

The movie is quite short comparing with any other. Its only 95 minutes and has a straight forward story line. Most of the scenes are made to show how magnificent the animation can be and each scene is a work of art of its own. The characters are bold and they portray their qualities significantly well.

One main factor which pulls the thrill together is the score. Very well made and played, it does a major deal to the whole movie starting from the credits. Without this score I cannot imagine how ‘Secret of Kells’ would be.

When an animation is nominated for the best animation movie at Oscars there is not much of thinking is required to try it out. I went that way and I’m certainly not disappointed. If someone ask me have you seeing ‘Secret of Kells’ in another 10 years, I would say hell yeah!!
